"[Bush] isn't my idea of a conservative, but he's the conservative liberals deserve; they've brought him on themselves, and I have no pity for them. Without them, he wouldn't have been possible. For them to complain he's violating the Constitution is a joke for the gods; whom do they think he learned from? Who has been teaching us that the Constitution is a 'living document' that keeps 'evolving'?"
--Joe Sobran, "War and Faith," 2006
Slightly OT: Am I the only one that missed that Bush pronounced May 1, 2006 as both Law Day (to honor the nation's legal framework), and Loyalty Day? Somehow that escaped the notice of the Nightly News, but it IS published in the Federal Register....very interesting.
Wow! So now George W. is the Liberals fault. We have come full circle and the conservatives are home free! Meanwhile, let's vote to increase the national debt once again before we go.
Not so OT: This is the face of mercy, relative to capital punishment: "America, you lost. I won."
...on the topic of getting what we deserve/create...
Since Bush is a liberal (a right-leaning liberal as opposed to the Democrat mainstream of left-leaning liberals) then there isn't a real difference between a "liberal" administration and a "conservative" one. Reading the whole column this is more Sobran's point than to smack at liberals for their tacky hypocricy as they pretend to take a principled stand in defense of the rule of law.
