In a celebration attended by Barack Obama, Lauren Bacall, and Bill Cosby, the Kennedy family awarded Ted Kennedy the "Profile in Courage Award" last night as a belated 77th birthday present. My prediction that New York Governor David Paterson would win was off somewhat. Was Ted Kennedy courageous in supporting the Vietnam war when it was popular among Democratic voters and then opposing the war once it became unpopular among Democratic voters? Maybe the transformation from Mr. Catholic--the first American to receive first communion from a pope--to Mr. Abortion once the political winds shifted motivated the honor? Or maybe it was the "courage" Kennedy showed in making seventeen phone calls, and waiting eleven hours, before reporting that Mary Jo Kopechne lay (suffocated) in his car submerged in Poucha Pond? If Ted Kennedy is a profile in courage, then I am a neat freak.
"Profile in Courage" and Ted "Hiccup" Kennedy go together like oil and water.
The arrogance of Clan Kennedy in taking it upon themselves to bestow awards (good grief, who asked them?) is typical of them. That they award it to one of their own is only to be expected.
Does this mean that we can pull his ears 77 times?
There is a long list of political, social, ethical, moral, on and on, faux pas perpetrated by the senior Senator from the Massachusetts in his clouded career.
This is one of my favorites from some past collusion with one of our enemies.

More recently, the Kennedy worship continues and Edward Moore has accepted an honorary knighthood from Britain’s Queen Elisabeth in recognition of his contribution to peace in the North and to the relationship between Britain and the United States.
However, Article I Section 9 of the Constitution says, "No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.”
Think Congress might consent?
Ted Kennedy has lots of faults & misdeeds, but he is basically a good guy & a patriot.

I'd like to know what the proof is that EMK is a good guy and/or a patriot?
I find Ted Kennedy to be a total disgrace to his Irish roots and religious background by his DISGUSTING, DISGRACEFUL personal lifestyle and conduct throughout HIS life. How dare he present himself as a caring, loving man when he has disgraced himself wit his drunken lifestyle, his abbhorent treatment of his EX-, wife and his utter disregard for his own childrens messed-up, addictive lives. He's been a disgraceful example to follow for his own children!!! And he should be in jail for the disgraceful drowning of Mary Jo who he was CHEATING with while his poor wife was cleaning up his home life messes!!!
I love it when proponents of "compassion" have told me that Teddy did enough to save Mary Jo Kopechne. When you drive somebody off a bridge, you're not indebted to dive back in after you come up the first time.
You guys are much closer to this, than I am, again.
