"She and John McCain are very close," Bill Clinton said of his wife. "They always laugh that if they wound up being the nominees of their party, it would be the most civilized election in American history, and they're afraid they'd put the voters to sleep because they like and respect each other." Bill Clinton's a shrewd operator, and his calculated praise of John McCain, as he knows, can't help the Arizona senator among Republican primary voters, who already scratch their heads at why McCain always seems to sponsor bills with people like Teddy Kennedy and Russ Feingold. Who do you think Camp Clinton doesn't want to face in November?
This is probably not that far off because, although their tactics may differ, they are very similar in social and political philosophy.
Think that it might be Mitt that they (the dual Presidency) don't want to face and that's why the liberal press loves the other two frontrunners.
"I frankly can't wait, because the idea of Bill Clinton back in the White House with nothing to do is something I just can't imagine. ..." - Mitt when asked about being elected.
I think you are both completely wrong. They know they will wipe the floor w/ McCain.
Besides the media loves him b/c he is even worse than Bush, as Buchanan points out. It would be a win-win race for our rulers and we will all continue to suffer.

Not sure what you're getting at Bruce because I agree that McCain would be the easiest to beat. Mostly because he is like them but has less appeal for both parties.
Maybe I phrased my opinions incorrectly so let me just say that McCain is $hite and Romney would be harder for the Democrats to handle.
I think the Clintons, and Democrats in general, think that McCain will be the hardest to beat. Whether he will be or not is another question. Remember: in 1980, Democrats were salivating over the prospect of facing Ronald Reagan, and he wiped the floor with them. Democrats usually think the person closest to them politically will be the hardest to beat. It doesn't always turn out that way. Having said all that, I think Romney would be easier for the Democrats to beat than McCain.
Sadly, the only way Hillary is not the next president is if Obama is the next president.
The GOP base is not going to be energized, so they will handle any possible nominee pretty easily. A democratic president means that the coming recession is going to last forever and a day, so I hope I'm wrong and a Republican somehow pulls out the win.
Time to back Romney he is best of the final 4. McCain may have the best chance to win the presidency if he gets the nomination? But why would you want him to get that chance. McCain on the economy duh #? Do you think he would cut taxes of any significance? He is for big business, cheap labor and suppressing wages for blue collar American workers with his stance on illegal immigration. How he can't see how illegal immigration is destroying this country is enough for one to stay home if he is in the general.
Given the choice between a Democrat and a Democrat, the voters will choose the Democrat every time.
Considering that McCain is philosophically close to the Democrat front runners, he’d likely keep Conservatives and Republicans away. Moderates who might see very little difference in the nominees of both parties might opt for the new shiny candidates on the left side of the aisle and not the grumpy old Senator.
McCain is Bob Dole without the personality and either the Clintons or Obama would have a field day.
Speaking of friends, does fat Ted Kennedy $hite on everybody? He does. Whatever political flavor one happens to be. Much to the chagrin of the Clintons, he just finished with his flowery endorsement of Obama.
