Immigration Bill Delayed

The Senate has delayed a vote on the controversial bill rewarding illegal immigrants with "legal" status for breaking U.S. law. The outrage over this bill is reminiscent of the outrage that greeted the president's nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. In that instance, a combination of Bush pushing the base beyond the boiling point and liberals wanting the president to fail even though it harmed their interests, sunk that nomination and gave the high court Sam Alito. Who knows what will happen here? The same forces seemed willing to sink this bill. When the public shouts their elected officials listen if it is loud enought. The shouting is pretty loud.

When questioned further about this obscenity, McCain made a statement, something like, that they had to something to fix the problem. Which is funny coming from the ones who, in the first place, have let the problem fester and become more dangerous and uncontrollable. Well, they do have to do something so why don't they start by enforcing the immigration laws that already exist?!!!. That really would be something.

In terms of this proposal for new legislation, however, doing nothing would be better than what McCain, Kennedy and Bush consider doing something.

asdf it looks like you changed your political views?

Absolutely. And somebody stole the strawberries too. Although you could flatly dismiss many of those items as whacko, America bad / World good, conspiracy theories, there may be an element of truth in some of them. Personally, I hope #17 is true and we are in Iraq for oil. I'd be ok with $1.25 gas.

Some people need to learn to connect the dots! You have surveillance run amok. There is a groundswell beginning to ban firearms. The government has reorganized itself to ensure that power is more centralized than it has ever been in the hirstory of the U.S. You have the militarization of the police force. You have a capping off of our personal liberties and freedoms. You have detention camps being built and maintained by one of the largest DOD contractors in the world. You have the media parroting government propaganda all day and night. You have the moronification of a nation by an inadequate education system which preaches compliance... And on and on and on...

Hello!?!? Anyone paying attention? How hard is it to see what is taking place right under your noses? They're not even bothering to do this in the deepest of shadows; it is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! WE are being socially engineered into THEIR agenda; namely compliance, control or elimination. This is NOT crazy conspiracy talk - open your eyes and you will see it right before you!

My GOD, I am so scared for the future of America, the future of Democracy, the future of personal freedom, libery and the pursuit of happiness! Just so long as people's beer is cold, their pizza is hot and the couch is soft they will gladly shut out reality in favor of their little daydream. WAKE UP!!! If you don't do it know, you are going to be rudely awakened when it's much too late!

Yes, son of asdf, you have many good points and insights and some will likely evolve and culminate to what’s being predicted.

I think the most telling and the taking off point for most of this country’s problems is what you said about the ‘moronification’ of America. This could be the key to the kingdom and the pols know that an uninformed, passive and aloof public is the easiest, most malleable and likely conditioned for abuse by government. Those who are willing to give up their fundamental freedoms and rights to exercise sway over how their government operates will eventually lose those freedoms and rights.

But, do they care? Outside of discussing issues on boards loaded with like minded concerned and somewhat informed participants, most people I meet have no clue what’s going on and don’t care. They are completely apolitical and if they vote at all, they vote for the candidate that dazzles them with slogans and presentation (read: Obama). Sadly, many are more interested in what happens in their favorite TV shows than they are about what direction their country is heading.

Everything else just lines up and falls into place behind a population of uninformed lemmings.

To qualify what I said before, number 2, that link that you provided has some plausible items on the list. But, you lose a lot of people when items like #18 are included. The WTC conspiratists sound just flat out nutty. There were a few other whoppers too but that one just jumps out at you.
