"[A]bortion rights groups...can always be counted on to say or do something sufficiently extreme that it makes it just that much harder for the rest of us to defend our position out in the public square," confesses pro-abortion writer Amy Sullivan in the Boston Globe. As evidence, Sullivan points to ads that portrayed Supreme Court nominee John Roberts as in-step with abortuary bombers, a ''Screw Abstinence Party" thrown by NARAL's Washington-state affiliate, and the revulsion expressed by Democratic activists at the suggestion by party leaders that they open up their tent to include pro-lifers. Abortion-rights supporters come off as extremists, but is it really their means that give them this reputation?
Pro-abortion Democrats would be wise to heed Sullivan's advice. But they would be better off heeding mine: stop promoting the killing of babies with vacuum cleaners, saline harpoons, and other weapons. Surely this would be good for public relations.
Good post. Another story I heard that could added to Sullivan's list: when Kerry/DNC people and the workers at the USCCB (Catholic Bishops conference) had a softball game in the summer of 2004, the dems showed up wearing pro-choice T-shirts.
I have a joke for you. What is the diference between Bella Abzug and a Bowling ball? If you absolutly had to you could eat the bowling ball. You can insert any femminist in place of Abzug. Have a nice day.
I belive the vast majority of pro-abortion advocates are simply not familiar enough with abortion. And because they are unfamiliar, they are able to ignore the intellectual poverty of their position as something abstract, mere arguments. Theirs is a sentimental commitment.
The irony is that the greatest obstacle to the pro-abortion position is itself sentimental. But as such it requires familiarity. For anyone who has seen images of abortion, seen the humanity of the unborn child, seen the utter brutality of the 'procedure', it is impossible to shake the the depth of sentiment they produce.
Were images of abortion part of the abortion debate, the pro-abortion position would be defeated. Abortion violates our basic sensibilities.
Most of the Pro-abortion fanatics are
lesbians,man-hating feminazis,amoral academics
or politicians who pander to some or all of the above.
"Right to Privacy"? Give me a break!
If there really is a "Right to Privacy",
all drugs should be legal.
The Baby killers just want to have
sex without consequenses.
None of them will say that
abortion is a "good" thing.
They won't even call it abortion.
They resort to the euphemism of "choice".
If slaughtering inconvenient innocents
under the auspices of "Freedom of Choice"
is our concept of freedom and liberty,
I totally understand why some would call this
nation "the Great Satan"
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
Yes!!!
But it all starts with "Life"
