Polling the Polls

Gallup reports that Bush's post-convention bounce has expanded, reporting a 55-42 lead for the president among likely voters. Pew contends that the race is essentially even, with Bush's 47-46 lead within their poll's margin of error. Investor's Business Daily calls the race even as well, but Zogby shows Bush holding on to a four-point lead. It's getting to the point where one has to poll the polls to come to an informed guess about who's really winning, and even then it's just a guess. As always, we'll all just have to wait for the one poll that really matters.

I never, EVER believe polls. As a certain company has proven (for the auto industry) if you pay someone enough, they can say you are number one at anything.

Example, I COULD say that I am the number one professional bowler in the world...

But I am omitting that I am the number one bowler in terms of miles of toilet paper used per year.

Polls have become "spin" for a fee. They are also used by some outlets of the media to create the "bandwagon" effect.

Be well,

Sponge

I dont want to hear about no stinking gallup poll when there are bigger fish to fry. Lets talk Ryder Cup baby!!! Whats going on with the U.S. team? They look terrible and the pairing of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson together was odd and in my mind a poor choice by America's captain Hal Sutton. Why team the strongest two American players together when it is more important for the U.S. to get every possible point in day one? All the Euro's have to do is essentially tie the Americans anyway to bring the Cup back home. Well hopefully today will bring better luck for our boys? Who do you like in the fight tonight Mr.Flynn? Ill take DelaHoya by decision, even though I dont like him much. To me, I just believe that Hopkins age will keep him from beating the quicker and more versitile DelaHoya but what do I know?

sponge daddy are you really a professional bowler? If so how do so? Is it like golf do you have to go to a qualifying school or like poker where it becomes known by continued winning?

Bob, actually I really am a pro. To get to this level, one must first average 200+ for two consecutive 66 game seasons. Then it is just a matter of paying to join the tour, monthly dues, and the cost of entry fees and equipment. At the moment I am still trying toline up backers to do this full time. The average pro has expenses of about $20-30 thousand per year.

I am still at the regional level right now (think minor leagues) but after more experience I hope to try out the exempt tour.

More details may be found at www.pba.com

However, I am not bowling for the sake of bowling, or the money (long story).

Be well,

Sponge
