The bluest town in the bluest state is on Martha's Vineyard. Think it's a coincidence that Barack Obama vacations there? The president, like everybody else in America, wants insulation from the consequences of his policies. An island of wealthy liberals gives him that. Read my column @ Human Events about how the president's trip to Martha's Vineyard is a vacation from reality.
I don’t think people realize what a tough job it is wrecking the economy, creating fiscal and social chaos, having to work around those pesky laws and in general degrading the United States of America.
Then there is the constant campaigning; fund raising; parties; concerts, etc.. The man needs a break!
His choice of vacation venue should not surprise. It matters not that he maintains his real world insulation on holiday as he IS the most tone deaf, immovable ideologue we’ve ever had holding high office. He has consistently demonstrated that his view of the world will never change no matter what and he will go to places where he is praised for it.
This recent bus tour was a stab to retain the vote of those guilty WPs who bought the Hope and Change express the last time around. This time, maybe not so much. He knows that his peeps may complain, but in the end they will cast their votes for him. So why does he need to make the effort? No, what he is now concentrating on is the vote of people he’s disregarded for most of his term but for now will decide to not enforce another law to pander for their brethrens’ votes.
HOMER: "Ya know....one of these days us honest citizens will stand up to you crooked cops!"
POLICE CHIEF WIGGUM: "Oh my gosh....have they set a date?"
Looks like the Fraud in Chief has helped to de-stabilized another Middle Eastern country. Another victory for the M.B.
Two down; one to go. On to Syria!
What has Obama done?
"Signed financial reform law requiring lenders to verify applicants' credit history, income, and employment status."
"Signed financial reform law prohibiting banks from engaging in proprietary trading (trading the bank's own money to turn a profit, often in conflict with their customers' interests)"
"Signed financial reform law allowing shareholders of publicly traded companies to vote on executive pay"
"Cut prescription drug cost for medicare recipients by 50%."
...I can go all day.
Cheers!
If you don't mind, would you please put a price tag on each of those. Be sure to include corporate regulatory compliance staff costs, legal fees, and associated loss of revenue. Oh, and make sure you indicate the percentage of impact on the affected companies' decisions to move even MORE U.S. business offshore. Thanks.
This one's a classic:
"Signed financial reform law requiring lenders to verify applicants' credit history, income, and employment status."
Duh!
There was a time, before the Democrats pushed to Community Reinvestment Act and decided that everybody on the planet regardless of financial or social status should qualify for a loan, where lending institutions were required to ask for at least that basic criteria before giving them a mortg@ge. It was S.O.P.!
Now, the same people who hosed up the system and who told banks to make bad home loans and that quasi-government institutions would back the loans, are writing bigger, more onerous and regulatory legislation to protect people from them. And it will cost the average loan consumer more money across the board in extra fees and costs, not to mention the additional costs of the added regulations. I mean, you can’t make this stuff up!
If government Democrats had stayed away from this in the first place, there would have been no need for additional bogus legislation and it could be argued that we would never have had to have wasted money with T.A.R.P. or any other such bailout.
Liberalism destroys.
f'en with the market....AGAIN!!

Drew- glad you could take some time away from the faculty lounge to opine.
Give me a break or better yet, try to start a business then come back and let us know how its going!
Some advice, running a small business is a bit more demanding than debating with like minded professors in some faculty lounge.
That lifestyle may be too much for the weak.
