Last Friday, Amherst, Massachusetts witnessed a Puerto Rican flag-raising on its town common. On Sunday, town meeting member Patricia Church held her own Puerto Rican flag lowering ceremony.
You see, Church mistook the Puerto Rican flag for the flag of Texas. "Obviously, I'm not a racist. I wasn't even thinking," she said. "I made a mistake." Texas, of course, is the home of he-whose-name-is-forbidden-in-Amherst.
Leaving aside the utter stupidity of Ms. Church, what's with her assumption that taking down a Puerto Rican flag is racist but removing the flag of the Lone Star State is okay?
Why do these dumb, radical, ultra-left weirdoes flourish in my state?
I was born and raised here and outside of being brought into a Democratic household; I have NEVER thought the way these idiots do. And it didn’t take me long to figure out that politically, many of my family and friends were wrong.
I’d like to believe that most of them are imports from New York or Vermont but I somehow don’t think that is the case.
This reminds me of years ago when they wanted to erect a monument to the Viet Nam vets. The big school out there, Umass/Amherst, railed about the ‘astrological costs’ of building such an obviously wrong tribute to war.
Western Mass is like another country anyway.
As a natural resident of the greatest and most superior state in the Union, I take offense that some idiot in Amherst would confuse our flag with that of an insignificant island territory. We should invade Mass. just to teach them a lesson.
Brad, there is no reason to start insulting Puerto Rico just because Texas was insulted by Massachusetts. This is going to snowball.
Obviously she's not racist, she just hates red-people.
Brad I think u have your opinion a little messed up! Mass is the most superior state! Remember the BOSOX?
How many times do you hear liberals say, "Obviously, I'm not a racist"?
Gah. Makes the blood boil.
Ge, don't a lot of Hispanics live in Texas? Therefore, wouldn't removing the Texas state flag also be racist?
Maybe "Happy Valley" should be renamed, "Slap Happy Valley."
