Barack Obama wants a world without nuclear weapons. "As the only nuclear power to have used a nuclear weapon, the United States has a moral responsibility to act. We cannot succeed in this endeavor alone, but we can lead it, we can start it," Obama declared in Prague. Has the President never watched Raiders of the Lost Ark? "Throw me the idol. I throw you the whip." The President's naivety can only end badly for the United States. Either we do away with our nuclear stockpile, and China, Russia, and company don't. Or, we don't do away with our nuclear stockpile and the rest of the world blames us for not living up to our Leader's word. By acknowledging that His Miss-America-like goal may not come true in His lifetime, Obama ensures that no matter what happens He doesn't get the blame.

Chinese Firm Indicted for Misusing Banks, Aiding Iran

April 7 (Bloomberg) -- A Chinese company and its principal were charged with misusing U.S. banks and aiding Iran’s acquisition of missile and nuclear technology, according to Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau’s office.

Morgenthau filed a 118-count indictment against LIMMT Economic and Trade Co., a major supplier of banned weapons to the Iranian military, said Alicia Maxey Greene, a spokeswoman for Morgenthau. The person indicted is Li Fang Wei.

The indictment says that between November 2006 and September 2008, LIMMT sent and received dozens of illegal payments through U.S. banks by using aliases and shell companies, according to a statement from Morgenthau’s office. He said that because LIMMT was banned from transacting with U.S. banks, transfers in its name would be banned.

Morgenthau, who has been probing monies involving countries subject to U.S. economic sanctions, announced the indictment this morning.

In January, Morgenthau announced a $350 million settlement with Lloyds TSB Bank Plc, which allowed Iran and other sanctioned countries illegal access to the U.S. financial system. The settlement was made with both New York and federal authorities.

Iranian Interests

Prosecutors in January said they found evidence of Iranian interests trying to buy tungsten and other materials used in the guidance systems of long-range missiles. Lloyds wasn’t the bank involved in those attempts, prosecutors said.

At the time, Morgenthau said nine major foreign banks besides Lloyds were under investigation for using the same technique to disguise illegal money transfers. Credit Suisse Group AG and Barclays Plc have said they’re cooperating in the probe.

U.S. banks have software filters that look for entities barred from doing business in the country, prosecutors said. Lloyds stripped out identifying features on the wires so the filters wouldn’t catch them. Credit Suisse and Barclays say they are among the banks that have been probed for their handling of money subject to sanctions.

In its New York agreement, Lloyds admitted that from 2001 to 2004 it allowed Iranian banks and their customers to move more than $300 million by stripping information. The Iranian banks included Bank Melli, Bank Saderat and Sepah Bank, according to a statement by Morgenthau.

U.S. laws bar the transfer of funds from Iran and other sanctioned countries without authorization by the U.S. Treasury Department.

I thought it was an interesting observation (from Econtalk IIRC) that countries with Nuclear Weapons don't fight each other, certainly not directly and things generally are kept from getting out of hand between such nations because the cost of failing to do so is so high.

Is there any more proof required that Barack Hussein Obama holds the United States in such total disregard that he would not take the time in France to visit the graves of the American servicemen who sacrificed their lives in World War II to allow for this fraudulent leftist scum bag to be elevated to the position he now holds?

Here we go, it only gets more and more interesting. Harold Koh, Barack Obama’s nominee to be the State Department’s Legal Adviser believes that not only should Judges interpret the Constitution according to other nations’ legal “norms.” and that Sharia law could apply to disputes in US courts, but that the United States constitutes an “axis of disobedience” along with North Korea and Saddam-era Iraq.
