Viking Moon

Randy Moss's talents as a wide receiver seem inversely related to the amount of class he possesses as a human being. Last week, the Vikings receiver walked off the field before the game with the Redskins had ended. This week, after catching his second touchdown pass, Moss celebrated by pretending to moon the crowd at Lambeau Field and then wiping his backside on the goalpost. We should be talking about Moss's inspired performance on Sunday, playing through an injury and catching two touchdown passes. But, because of Randy Moss, we are instead discussing his behavior again. What did you think of Moss's endzone taunt? Is the media making too much of this? How should the NFL respond? Is there a player in the NFL with less maturity (remember: Ryan Leaf and Lawrence Phillips are out of the league)?

Back in the old days, a linebacker or defensive back would have helped Randy adjust his attitude.

He's a low class piece of junk.

Remind me again how many Superbowls he's been to?

Don't know who's worse: him or his enabling coach.

They can't lose enough.

Randy Moss is a tragedy. He has the talent to be the best reciever the league has ever seen. His attitude, however, is such that all he'll ever be is a selfish loser. It seems that this attitude is permeating all of pro sports. Sad to say, I don't watch baseball much any more. Nor do I watch basketball or hockey. Lately, I've even lost interest in the NFL. I'm tired of the low class celebrating, many times for nothing more than a tackle. Sweetness, Barry Sanders, you are missed.

Things like this are what make the Belichick formula all that more sweet. No matter what happens in private or behind closed doors, come time to prepare to play and game day, the Patriots are professional and business-like in their approach to the game.

That is the key to efficiency and excellence.

And the best thing is that they win without ‘high profile’ knuckleheads like RM.

I don't think it was a big deal. Everyone is blowing it up. “ It's not the kind of thing you want to see on national TV, but I understand what it was all about. ... The fans in Green Bay have a tradition in the parking lot after the game where they moon the visiting team's bus. ”
— Colts coach Tony Dungy. He even thought it was kinda humorous. Nobody said anything about that did they? He's a great player, he'll probably get fined about it because people are blowing it up, and then that will be that. There's been worse stuff on Fox before. So spare the drama.

Football is dumb, and this guy is merely proof.

I found the mooning gesture less objectionable than the "wiping a*s on goal-post" gesture that immediately followed. Why isn't anybody mentioning that? It seems to me worthy of a fine. Like most twenty-something men, Randy Moss seems to be a crude 12 year old boy at heart.

I don't know who's worse...the athletes like Terrel Owens and Randy Moss who act up with endzone antics or the so-called "naturalists" who chastize any player that celebrates with anything more than a few high fives to his teammates. If Randy Moss simulating an ass moon is all we have to complain about in the NFL, then the league's in pretty good shape. What Randy Moss did will have no impact on anything...not even the "integrity of the game" or any of that other B.S. sports naturalist stuff. When we see someone like Randy Moss do a stunt in the endzone we should laugh and move on. The day I see the NFL following down the road of the NBA (i.e. celebration and taunting effecting a players ability to play the game well and the caliber of football on the field. -Randy Moss and Terrel Owens can still catch footballs better than anyone on the planet)is the day we should panic. Overall, NFL players are more mature and disciplined than MLB players and obviously more mature than the mildly retarded NBA'ers.

The ongoing NHL lockout took a strange twist when players looking to end the lockout and save some of the season by promising to keep fans interested in the game by allowing players to perform Rusty Trombone's after scoring goals!!!
