On Sunday, soccer fans chanted "Osama," attempted to burn an American flag, and booed the U.S. national anthem in Mexico City. Seven years ago, a similar outpouring of anti-Americanism occurred during a U.S.-Mexico soccer match--in Los Angeles! Trash rained down upon U.S. players. Fans booed loudly over the national anthem. Spectators unwise enough to wave Old Glory in LA got drenched in beer.

About one in five legal immigrants in America is Mexican. About three in five illegal immigrants in America are Mexican. While open-borders rhetoric gushes with platitudes about immigrants coming to America because they love this country, reality suggests that migrants from nations with strong anti-American streaks often bring the attitudes prevalent in their homelands with them. Anyone doubting this should attend a soccer match the next time Mexico's national team travels to the U.S. to play the home team.

So punish them. Put Military guard on the Mexican border, rack up trade embargoes with Mexico. Why trade with these people, or allow them within our borders, if they hate us so? I say we seal the border with Mexico airtight, and cease all trade with them, after all there is no vital export from Mexico that we particuarly need.

I suppose if we allow all aliens coming out of Mexico to flow unabated over our borders and allow them to live in this country unencumbered with technicalities such as becoming citizens and give them free tax payer funded assistances and then if we throw in California for them, then, they’ll like us.

I guess we’re just too haughty and ignorant of their ways to understand their culture.

Our immigration policy is a joke. We crave Mexican immigrants because they provide cheap labor and do work no one else wants to do. But after we realize that a lot of them join gangs and are prevalent to violence, we deport them. Then, after they sneak back into the country, police can't touch them because of our idiotic immigration policy.

What sense does this make? The police in Los Angeles know there are thousands of illegal immigrants who have been deported, but can't touch them because it is out of their jurisdiction. So it's left to our government, which has no incentive and timeline to round them up again and deport them.

All the while, the illegals are having babies, sending their kids to schools that are funded by tax payer money. And then they have the nerve to insist that we institute bilingual education? This country is insane! We need to close our borders, for real, and stop playing games. I'm tired of politicians complaining about terrorist problems when we have the enemy at our back door.

As p.c. politics in Washington has thwarted our Border Patrol in their ability to be able to do their jobs effectively (not to mention put them in danger), the group of self-proclaimed vigilantes known as the ‘Minutemen’ have taken the law into their own hands and decided to patrol the border on their own.

Now, a group of Central American thugs known as MS13 are planning on violently stopping this group of patriots from helping to secure our country from illegal aliens. Looks like a border war brewing.

If the pols were true to enforcing strong border control laws and not just concerned about getting more votes, it never would have had to come to this.

We should line their silly little soccer team up against the Pats. Anyone remember that great scene out of Monty Python's "Meaning of Life" in which the grade school kids have to serve detention by playing rugby against the Masters team. Well, a Pats-Mexico game would go something like that.

Politically, we should recall every soldier from Europe and Korea and put them on the border. That is, until we can build terminator robots to patrol the desert.

You know, maybe we’re not enlightened enough to understand these people. If we were to all take mind altering mushrooms as Joe Dirtbag suggested doing on another post, we would probably see things the way that the Mexican soccer fans do.

I dislike the spectacle of people burning our flag and chanting Osama. However, we have plenty of our own who share the same sick sentiments, I've never noted a particular fondness for Mexicans among us, and this is not something to get too exercised over. We and they need to work at having the best relationship we can muster as we are neighbors. Soccer fans, let me repeat that, soccer fans cannot be allowed to have a great effect on international relations. Those people are swine! They are not Mexico.
Also, we are the rich kids and they are the poor ones on the other side of the tracks. That dynamic is ineradicable. Be glad we are the rich kids.

Does anyone realize that our immigration rate is much lower today than it has been in the past?

Maybe we need to teach our children not to shoot so high in their dreams. They could be the migrant field workers who pick that fancy lettuce in your salad. Do you think that we actually don't need some of these people?

I think the Armed Forces should post snipers in towers along the fence for every mile and take pop shots at those little greasy b@stards. Then they need to place HUMVEEs patroling the area between the towers. If they die, they die so what.

I actually play floor hockey with a couple of Mexican guys. They're here legally. Great guys, too. I wish Vicente Fox would keep the rest and send us more like the guys I know.

One of my best friends is Mexican. He's a good friend. I just cant stand the Border Jumpers(Non-US citizens) using our(US citizens) legal system against us and winning. The elites say we are violating their constitutional rights. To me you have to be a legal citizen of this country to have constitutional rights.

Legally immigrated Mexicans? I have no problem with them. Illegal immigrants crossing the border? They can only be regarded as a serious security threat that is infiltrating the United States. We ought to place a few U.S Army regiments on the border with orders to, on sight, shoot-to-wound and apprehend.

There are plenty of people who would do the work in the fields if the Mexicans weren't here, we would just have to pay them more. Then the price of produce and such would rise.

Would this rise in the price of produce offset the amount of money drained each year by illegal immigrants and their children who receive benefits from the government? I think so. The people who are making out here are the farmers employing the illegals, illegally.

And the government tolerates this. See, we don't get to the source of the problem in this country, we just point fingers and the political party that makes the loudest emotional argument usually wins.

The average American doesn't reason through this stuff. He may hear five minutes of socialist liberal garbage on public radio on the way to his union job, and say "whatever". When he gets home, he's not watching whatever biased nightly news cast that's on. He's watching Fear Factor or King of Queens.

Mexico was experiencing financial difficulties after the Mexican -American War of 1846-48. In an effort to help restore the country, President Benito Juárez declared that Mexico would suspend payments on all of their foreign debts until 1863. The French, Spanish, and English were not happy with this decision and sent troops to Mexico to get their money. The English and the Spanish quickly made deals with the Mexican government and left the country soon after they arrived. The French, however, were not happy with this situation so they remained in Mexico in order to forcibly get their money.

The French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte, sent his relative, Archduke Maximillian of Austria to rule Mexico and get their money. President Juáres appointed several generals in order to help protect Mexico from the French invasion. General Ignacio de Zaragoza was in charge of defending the Mexican city of Puebla. On May 5, 1862, around 6000 French soldiers attacked the city of Puebla. This well-trained and strong French army was not prepared for the resistance and struggle that they faced in Puebla. About 2000 Mexican military men and Puebla citizens, armed with farm and household weapons, defeated the French attack.

Mexico eventually lost the war with the French and Maximillian became the ruler of Mexico in 1864. However, due to increased Mexican resistance and pressure from the United States, the French withdrew its troops in 1867.
