Worth the Wait

The Boston Red Sox are world champions. As a citizen of Red Sox Nation by birth, and one who spent the better part of a decade working in the cathedral of baseball, the victory evokes powerful emotions. Eighty-six years have past since the Red Sox last won the World Series. People have been born, lived long lives, and died without experiencing a Red Sox World Series triumph. To live through this is a privilege.

Flynny I couldnt agree with you more! I just got home from watching HISTORY and I cant begin to show my true feelings of what this victory produced! I sat or for the better half of the last three innings stood for this happening and I could not wait to come home and share my excitement with you! I look back at the Harry M Stevens days where there may have been a flip flop of employees until I left your shirt on the train and think to where we are today and it makes me think that there is no better time than right now! God bless the true fans of Boston who have been here for as long as I have been alive and can celebrate the greatest day in the HISTORY of sports!!!! As I write this some ten miles away from the park I hear horns blowing showing how much it means to be a Redsox fan on this day October 27 2004, a day that I will never forget!

Congratulations, I am impressed at the manner in which they did it. I never would have thought they could sweep the Cardinals and it is just incredible to think of how they won 8 straight like they did.

And hopefully I will never have to see Jimmy Fallon french kissing some girl on the field at Busch Stadium again. I hate Fox, they are completely miserable at producing quality sports television. I am left with that miserable image seared into my psyche.

So that's who that was. Damn, I was happier not knowing.

I waited 36 years to see this. My father and grandfather (both Boston natives) died without seeing it. My 10 year old son (a Sox & Marlins fan) has seen 3 World Series victories already.

Other than game 1, what a dominant pitching performance. Congratulations.

We should have known that NL pitching is overrated - the stats are inflated from pitching to oppossing pitchers all the time. Given the choice between all the intricate managing that goes into the awe-inspiring double-switch (yeah right), and the gruesome spectacle of a pitcher with a bat in his hands, I'll take the DH any day.

I wouldn't call the red sox "world champions". If this were a league that had teams from all over the world, then maybe. Until then, it will remain the american series.

For a sport that involves the entire globe, try football (and I mean real football, not american football).

Jessica your in the wrong country with such a remark. I give you a red card for such a comment!

Jessica, I'm sorry to break this to you but you are a complete fool.

Auc, at least I had the guts to put up my email address. Next time try writing an thoughtful comment.

Bob, America is just as much a part of the globe as any other country, maybe you need to be reminded of that. I appreciate your humour, but you can't eject me from this forum.

Lavendar: 1. You are not my uncle.
2. Back that statement up please.

Let's have an intelligent discussion gentlemen.

Jessica here is the explanation of how the World series got that name.

Jess thats my point America is just a dot in this world, a big dot that doesn't care for the game of soccer as much as some of the smaller dots. You are certainly intitled to your opinion but in America baseball is our pastime not soccer. That is why I was one of seven million to attend the World Series Champ Redsox rally today. If the US won the world cup I would have to think that number would be much less, thats my point with my earlier post.
