"We'll look back on all of this in 10 or 15 years and realise how foolish it was," famed meteorologist William Gray explained to a University of North Carolina audience. He was speaking of global warming and the mania surrounding the issue that inspired the Nobel committee to award Al Gore its peace prize.

Do we look back upon acid rain Jeremiahs and think "wisemen" rather than "saps"? Do we think Paul Ehrlich's wild predictions of mass starvation and disease as a result of overpopulation prescient or preposterous? The ozone hole kill the planet? The shrinking rain forests? DDT? The fact is we don't think of such issues much at all anymore. The proponents of such issues aren't mocked, just forgotten. Or, like so many exponents of the idea of man-generated climate change, they reinvent themselves when the next world-saving environmentalist notion comes along.

Leaving aside the science of global warming, the track record of environmentalist scare stories is abysmal. It doesn't promote confidence in their theory-of-the-moment. Every few years they unleash a fresh doomsday scenario toward the same ends. Whatever the "problem," the solution always seems greater state controls, an erosion of private property rights, international institutions gaining power, and companies feeling the wrath of the big green boot. It would be nice, as Dr. Gray suggests, that in a decade or so we'll all get a laugh at the expense of Gore and company. But the public's propensity to quickly forget past Chicken Littles makes one doubt that they will hold current Chicken Littles accountable.

Maybe we could stash this Al Gore lunacy somewhere so we could pull it out in 15 years and remember it? Someplace like a time capsule, or dare I say, a "locked box"?

I've heard a few other people point out the fact that Gore was given the Nobel prize for PEACE and not SCIENCE.
If that doesn't signify this as a polticial movement nothing does.

Heyyy....., this is all starting to sound like Al Gore and the Global Warming conspiracy theorists.

Well, I had some down time (and hour and a half's worth, as it turned out), so I decided to give your video a look. It was entertaining in the same way that JFK or X-Files is entertaining -- conspiracies make for interesting plots.

The main jist of the film was that the tenant (on a 99-year lease) of the WTC buildings, Mr. Silverman, had the buildings demolished (as in, with demolition explosives) just after the planes flew into them. Apparently, he did this to claim the insurance money and the rebuilding contracts (which were all part of his lease). It's not clear to what extent the terrorists were in on the scam and what percentage of the take they got... oh wait, they're dead. Building Seven was also demolished despite not having been hit by a plane so as to destroy all the records from Enron and WorldCom which were stored in the building. It's not clear how these ends were tied into those of Mr. Silveram. Finally, the Bush's are dragged in because Bush's third cousin, or something like that, was head of the company that provided security for the WTC complexes.

Sounds like a job for the Lone Gunmen to me.

Silverman didn't have control of his WTC lease so it is even worse than you think of a tale if the video stated that. The WTC was fully under the control on the joint NY and NJ Port Authorities. They were actually built as a gross example of abusive state power regarding eminent domain.

So it sounds to me like the conspiracy theorists are trying to throw Silverman's name in on there fantasy b/c (I suppose) he is Jewish and so it can raise the flag of Israeli or Mossad involvement in 9/11.

What a crock. I for one have no problem w/ these "Truthers" being banned.
