Andrew Sullivan posting nine times in two days on Mel Gibson's drunk-driving meltdown is disturbing. The man doth celebrate too much, methinks. I would borrow a line from another book by a famous author, "He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone," but that would probably make me a "theocon" or a "Christianist" in Sullivan's eyes.
It's like those vultures that toasted Reagans death with champaign. Sick bastards.
People read Andrew Sullivan? You read him?
I know that many liberals like to read him and Garry Wills since they are Catholics who constantly bash the Church along with any Catholic who is orthodox. They are motivated by seeing the political utility of him.
A complete elimination of all standards, regarding individual behavior is the utopia, liberals like Sullivan demand. This is one of the primary objectives of George (human version of E.T.) Soros and his Open Society Institute. Their vision of utopia includes, but not limited to, ability for pedofiles, beastility, narcotic abuse, and any other form of deviant behavior, to become part of acceptable societal behavior,by legalization. These are the same people who scream when judges attempt to punish child molesters.
Sullivan and his ilk are the same individuals who actively support Soros and his twisted vision of the USA.
Andrew's biggest problem seems to be that he has a strong hatred of the so called "religous right." Somehow he thinks Mel Gibson's comments negatively affect this group.
Andrew Sullivan is blatantly out of his mind.
I haven't read him since that post about how awesome 'shrooms are.
Andrew is STILL on this. I think he is concerned about anti-semitism. To his credit, at least to the best I can tell, he has supported Israel's actions in Lebanon. He has correctly pointed out that Israel faces an existential threat.
In the case of Mel Gibson, potecting Jews from bigotry is not his primary concern. If he were really this concerned about anti-semitism, he would focus all these posts on groups like CAIR and the rhetoric that emanates from America's mosques. These groups have real political power. Mel Gibson has no political power. The remarks from Mel Gibson are deplorable. I'm not suggesting that they should in any way be excused. As far as I can tell, Mel has apologized. I don't know his heart so I can't tell if he means it.
I think Andrew sees this as an opportunity to bash the "religous right." This is the group he hates the most. He seems to think Mel's statements somehow harm the "religous right."
