Revolver Turns 38

This week also marks the anniversary of another, more uplifting event from the 1960s. On August 8, 1966, The Beatles released (in the U.S.) one of their best albums, Revolver. Signs of the group's drug influences could be found on Rubber Soul, but really came through loud and clear on Revolver. Lyrically, this is apparent on "Doctor Robert." Sonically, "She Said, She Said" and "Tomorrow Never Knows" present a very different, drugged-out Beatles sound--with Ringo providing some of the best Beatles drumming on these two songs.

This and Rubber Soul were the two best the Beatles did. In my opinion.

Local radio station did all Beatles yesterday and the entries for those two really stood out.

A real good case can be made that this is the best album of all time, not just the best Beatle album. It certainly is their most pure 60's rock record and what I think is the best example of what the Beatles are. Milestones like this are really sad when you think in terms of music today. This is an album that had one cohesive sound that was a snap shot of the best in music at that time. Also the first great contribution from George... Carve your number on my wall
