Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones turns sixty-one today. My five favorite Stones songs are: 5. Heartbreaker 4. Can't You Hear Me Knockin' 3. Brown Sugar 2. Gimme Shelter 1. Memory Motel. Have you got a different top five? Let's see it in the comments section below.
I would argue that 'It's Only Rock and Roll' is not only the best Rolling Stones song but one of the best rock songs of all time.
5) You Can't Always Get What You Want
4) It's Only Rock & Roll
3) Under My Thumb
2) Shattered
1) Beast of Burden
My favourite Stones songs are:
Little T & A
You Got The Silver
Salt of the Earth
Before They Make Me Run
Happy
My favorite Stones songs not sung by Keith are:
Can't You Hear Me Knocking
No Expectations
Let It Bleed
Tumbling Dice
Winter

My fav's are: hand of fate, winter, sway, out of time, monkey man, shine a light, gimme shelter, tumbling dice, moonlight mile, out of control in no particular order. My favs when I am on heroin is dead flowers and sister morphine. My favs when I am with some really cool high priced hooker girls include Bitch, when the whip comes down and star star. The stones are the worlds greatest rock and roll band. Can anyone name the only member of the stones to play on a Beatle record (who was it, what track and what instrument?) Can anyone name the man who plays lead on arguable their greatest guitar solo (hand of fate?) Happy Birthday Mick.
Didn't Brian Jones sit in on a session of Yellow Submarine and provide backing percussion?
5) Ruby Tuesday
4) Beast of Burden
3) Paint it black
2) Time is on my Side
1) Sympathy for the Devil
Here's another:
5. Country Honk
4. Emotional Rescue (amusing, Stones-go-Disco)
3. Monkey Man
2. Love in Vain
1. You Can't Always Get What You Want
Four of these five of course are from "Let It Bleed," one of the greatest -one of the three greatest- albums of rock ever put together. The other two albums are
1.)"The Velvet Underground and Nico"
and
2.)"Blonde on Blonde"
in case you were wondering.
My top five.
5)Let's spend the night together
4)She's a rainbow
3)2000 Man
2)I am waiting
1)Memory Motel
Enjoy my list. Listen to songs and you will truely appreciate my list and how solid it is.
One more thing.......The Who is better than The Stones.

I have so many favorite Stones songs is crazy. To many to list. Besides I'm not that strong counting over eleven....don't ask. I would rather list my favorite Stones quote. It was Dec. 6, 1969, Mick and the boys where at the Altamont Speedway outside San Francisco. They hired the Hells Angels as the security for the event....mistake.
An irresistible force swept against an immovable object, Mick Jagger sang "Sympathy for the Devil" and everything came unhinged. You all know what transpired next. In brief, One Hells Angel was arrested for the killing, but later was acquitted, despite the fact that the entire incident was captured on film.
Anyway, during the tail end of the fracas Mick, in a drug induced stupper spouted this..."Everyone please cooool out, cool out people...cooool out." And that is my favorite Stones quote.
Hello! Anyone?! …..Satisfaction.
And, the whole Sticky Fingers disk.
Rest of it spans from crap to not so much crap.
Shrimpton, Brian Jones played sax on The Beatles' "You Know My Name, Look Up the Number." I knew the correct Stone, but I had to Google the Beatles song he played on.
Well, I had part of it. And in fact, Beatle historian Mark Lewisohn cites Brian Jones' presence and participation on final recordings during the Yellow Submarine sessions. Here is a site that cites that as well:

You are correct Dan ( is that your real name?). What about their greatest guitar work on Hand of Fate? Hint he was an american who was about to get the gig but Mick vetoed it because the stones are a brit band. He gave in to Kieth and Ronny Wood got the gig. They even considered Clapton but the Stones are pigs when it comes to three things:Girls, drugs and money. They are too cheap and plus he was too drug addicted. Mick Shrimpton.
The answer is Wayne Perkins?
The answer is Wayne Perkins.
Hey, nobody mentioned "Have Mercy" from "Out of Our Heads." The Stones didn't write it but they did a great version of it!
So what. It wasn't mentioned because it stinks!
Yes Wayne Perkins indeed. Probably their best guitar work in that track. Another great stones track is she smiled sweetly from the Royal Tannenbaums soundtrack but I digress. The stones are the second greatest band of all time and the most unique. They have tour dates for 2005 in place and I will be there. I am going with a girl I met on the train on my way to my last stones concert--Mick Shrimpton London.
Regarding birthdays:
This is sad... but I just now published my birthday blog entry - and my birthday was on June 26th! (I had saved a draft for that day, but I just published it... At least last year, I was more on target.)
I had thought that perhaps on the one-month anniversary, I could have posted it - I see that you have a 'Happy Birthday' entry for someone on July 26th... But even that day was one I was unable to post on.
Blogging has grown to be frustrating - I think this happens to people once they've been doing it for awhile.
Mr. Flynn, I wanted to post an introductory note here saying that I just found this great site, via Daniel McCarthy's recent article on LewRockwell.com. I have actually been writing and blogging about the issues that Mr. McCarthy raises - regarding traditional conservatism vs. neoconservatism, for awhile now - My blog has become somewhat-known for being a student conservative blog that opposed the Iraq war... Traditional conservatives unfortunately do not seem to be too common in the Blogosphere.
I met you when you were at the Accuracy in Academia table at "College Convention 2000" in Manchester, NH. Many College Republicans from Massachusetts were there, and I met your brother Barry. I had called the Accuracy in Academia headquarters in late 2000 or 2001, and wanted to become a campus distributor for Campus Report on the UIS and LLCC campuses.
I saw you on MSNBC's Donahue show debating the Hollywood leftists, and I liked very much what I saw. I also saw a small part of one of your speeches to college students on C-SPAN.
When I was at College Convention 2000, I got a copy of your book on Mumia Abu-Jamal. It was great to have so many students in one place who were interested in politics and current affairs - and many of whom were strong conservatives. I have not been to a major political convention since 2000, but in a few days, I will be attending YAF's National Conservative Student Conference - I have never been to a YAF event before, and this should be an exciting and captivating experience. I know that you are one of YAF's key campus speakers - are you planning on being at the conference? I hope things go well there...
Anyway, you have an excellent site, and I am glad that you now have a weblog - I blogrolled it yesterday. I greatly admire what you have been doing, and please keep up the excellent work. Thanks!
