Dr. Obama

Lyndon Johnson "reformed" health care almost 45 years ago. This resulted in skyrocketing medical costs. Anytime "reform" is used as a euphemism for government subsidization you can count on the price to inflate. Now Dr. Obama wants to administer more of the medicine that got the patient sick in the first place. Just as spending on medical and retirement entitlements desparately needs to be brought under control, the president proposes an expensive new entitlement and has the gall to call it "reform." Not to worry: when this new entitlement balloons the cost of health care, some future Obama will propose to "reform" health care by infusing massive amounts of federal money into the health care industry--just as Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Lyndon Johnson did before him (her?).

Hey, how's the Messiah working out for ya'?.....

"White House: Budget deficit to top $1.8 trillion, 4 times 2008's record

Andrew Taylor, Associated Press Writer
On Monday May 11, 2009, 10:40 am EDT

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Mirroring the unprecedented red ink flowing from America's deep recession, the deficit for the current budget year will rise by $89 billion to $1.84 trillion -- about four times the record set just last year.

The budget also reflects the costs incurred for the Wall Street bailout, President Barack Obama's economic stimulus bill, as well as a structural imbalance between what the government spends and what it takes in.

For the current fiscal year that ends on Sept. 30, the government would borrow 46 cents for every dollar it takes to run the government under the administration's plan. In one of the few positive signs, the actual 2009 deficit is likely to be $250 billion less than predicted because Congress is unlikely to provide another $250 billion in financial bailout money.

The developments come as the White House completes the official release of its $3.6 trillion budget for 2010, adding detail to some of its tax proposals and ideas for producing health care savings. The White House budget is a recommendation to Congress that represents Obama's fiscal and policy vision for the next decade.

Annual deficits would never dip below $500 billion and would total $7.1 trillion over 2010-2019. Even those dismal figures rely on economic projections that are significantly more optimistic -- just a 1.2 percent decline in gross domestic product this year and a 3.2 percent growth rate for 2010 -- than those forecast by private sector economists and the Congressional Budget Office."

And to partially fund this monstrosity.....

"The centerpiece of the tax proposals -- a limit on charitable deductions for taxpayers in the top two income brackets -- was rolled out earlier this year and remains in the proposal.

But the White House dropped its estimate of how much that proposal would raise, from $317.8 billion to $266.7 billion over 10 years. The charitable deductions proposal has drawn opposition from congressional Democrats.

On Monday, the White House added several other tax-generating proposals to supplement that plan, including proposed changes to estate and gift tax laws. The plan would require "consistent valuation [of property] for transfer and income tax purposes." According to the White House, the estate and gift tax provisions would raise $24.2 billion over 10 years."

Anybody who sees how bad nationalized health care in the U.K. and Canada has turned out know this is not about health care but more power for government. Obama and his ilk are ideologues whose belief in governement supercedes whether or not a system works or is good for the people they allegedly serve.

Once Obama’s government usurpation of health care is kicked off, wait and see how much personal regulation becomes a requirement of the state. ANYTHING that can be attributed as a possible danger to a citizen’s well being that might cost the state more money for related health care will be scrutinized and outlawed. Or taxed. (see soft drinks, trans fatty foods, etc..)

Scarier still, the government will be the arbiter of what and when people get a specific level of care. Or not. So a lot of people will stay sicker longer or just die off of the system.

My question has always been: what is so bad about our current form of health care?
