I liked presidential contests better when candidates stood rather than ran for election. William McKinley campaigned for the presidency from his front porch in 1896. Now, 112 years later, Barack Obama campaigns in foreign nations. (I got all the foreign policy experience I need on my summer vacation!) Obama, the voters are in Berlin, New Hampshire, not Berlin, Germany; Jerusalem, Ohio, not Jerusalem, Israel; and New London, Connecticut, not London, England. It's bad enough that what once took a few months now takes a few years. It's even worse that limits of place span the globe. How long until a candidate gives a stump speech upon the moon?
My take is that, if he could, Obama would rather be President of Germany than of the U.S. And it's a good thing that the Germans can't vote in our elections because polls indicate that 80% of them would vote for little Barry.
He has consistently demonstrated that he's really not too happy with being an American but that he thinks Europe is groovy.
The other functions of his whirlwind trip to the Middle East and beyond are supposed to suffice for his lack of foreign policy experience and military obligations. So say the press.
The more we see and hear from this guy, the more buffoonish and inept he appears. It won’t sway the Obama zombies come November but hopefully this and other events serve to wake the electorate.
Meanwhile, back at home.....
How is it that Chris Dodd who chairs the Senate Banking Committee, which is responsible for overseeing Countrywide’s market, ends up the recipient of a sweetheart loan deal from that very company? And as Countrywide is a big part of the Fannie/Freddie problem, Dodd is one of the guys pushing for a government (read: our money) bailout! How much more corruption will we accept before we start voting these criminals out?
Hey, Obama says he's on the Senate Banking Committee. But he's not. But why should those details matter when he's talking to the Israelis?
Oh I have a feeling the Israelis would be very concerned with anything to do with banking.
Not really, just couldn't resist the joke.
The Banking Committee reference came out of Obama telling the Israelis that, as a member of the Banking Committee which, as he said “is my committee”, he would launch divestment from Iran as a way of putting pressure on them to insure they don’t obtain nuclear weapons.
In the first place, it was a blatant lie. In the second place it just shows (again) how obtuse this guy is thinking that financial sanctions against that fanatical regime would mean anything to them.
