Does anyone still care that Senator George Allen called some camcorder pest "macaca"? Did anyone ever care? Sewer-mouthed Ana Marie Cox still feigns great offense at the non-racist, non-word that Allen used as a name for a Democratic operative showing up to his rallies with a video camera. Cox fantasizes that this will cost Allen his Senate seat. After having lived in Virginia for five years, my sense is that most Virginians who are offended take greater umbrage at the phony outrage than they do at George Allen fumbling over a nuisance's nickname.
Was this anything like Hillary saying that Ghandi ran a gas station or Biden making a comment about the how you couldn't go into a Seven Eleven in Maryland without being confronted by an Indian? What about that press?
Would you look at that little monkey run?
The Republican party is the party of Racisim. Has been since Nixon, still is today.
Lucky for us progressives that demography is on our side.
Conservatives may have more babies, but latinos and arabs have even more.
Either the Republicans get swamped by demography, or they embrace the new racial makeup of our country.
Either way, white racists like y'all on this blog are doomed to be dinosaurs.
How about Al Franken calling Sean Hannity an Irish ape-man?

Sure that's racist.
But Al Franken isn't a sitting Senator.

are you able to handle going to the bathroom on your own?
The Republican party was formed for the express purpose of ending slavery, and 62% of the Senators who voted for LBJ's civil rights act were Republicans. Barry Goldwater was a member of the NAACP.
And sorry dumb*ss, but Latinos tend to vote Republican.
Were I Al I would refrain from calling others ape.
Ben-T,
Are you implying that Barry Goldwater voted for the Civil Rights bill? I thought he said that it was unconstitutional.
What does Barry Goldwater have to do with anything?
That was BEFORE the Southern Strategy.
Barry Goldwater was before the conservative movement sold out and became an authoratrian nightmere.
And Democrats actually have a narrow edge amongst Latino voters (despite Karl Rove trying to reach them on "Values".)- but that wasn't my point.
My point was that the Republicans are gonna have to become a lot less racist in the future in order to win elections, and that racists like you Southern-fried good old white boys are on the way out.
That's a good thing for the country, no matter what party you're in.
Unsupported assertions are so fun!
Oh and by the way, I don't know if anyone has managed to inform you, but argumentum ad hominem is an invalid debate tactic.

This one was particuarly funny. The majority of posters here are from Boston or New York.
I know you're all mostly Bluestaters, but lets face it: you wish New York as a little bit more like Raleigh.
I think the problem wasn't the fat that he made up a word -- although CNN claims that a Makak is a type of monkey and that in parts of Africa the word is used as a racial slur -- but that he welcomed S.R. Sidarth (the so called pest who was actually working for Jim Webb's campaign, and who had introduced himself to Allen a week earlier) to America. Just because someone isn't white doesn't make them not from America, and Flynn, you're probably right it that it won't make too much of a difference in Virginia but doesn't mean it wasn't a racist commnent and its nothing to be proud of for Virginians .

Lets face it, you have no argument so you're using argumentum ad hominem to attempt to dismiss views that you disagree with.
Lets face it: you think Latin makes you right.
Hey, Look, Flynn Files has it's first full-fledged Troll! Congrats to Dan! His blog has become do relavant and topical, that it's caused the Crazy Left to take the time to send over a Troll!

Let's just sit back and let Haha make a fool of himself with his bad writing and pseudo-arguments. I bet (6-5, you pick it) his next response to anyone who tries to make an intelligent point will be "Yo' Mama!"
In the meanwhile let's enjoy the show while it lasts, Burger King will be calling him back to work any day now and he won't have as much time to troll Flynn Files anymore.
A good laugh is a terrible thing to waste!
What makes me chuckle about the ‘R’ word is that it seems to always be discussed in a single context and with one direction in mind: whites toward the (any) minority du jour. The facts are that racism transcends color or ethnicity. As I write this, in venues all across this country, there are Blacks, Latinos (Hispanics?), Asians, Indians, etc. spewing vitriolic commentary about others who are not members of their particular groups and who they perceive are against them. These people are not cowering little lambs who are being hurt by supposed white racist language. They have their own and there’s plenty to go around. Today, the ‘R’ word is flung about freely when one group wants to gain some social or political leverage. In most cases, effective use applies toward the majority of haves from the minority of have nots.
HaHa-
That's a good name for you because you and your comments are a joke.
If racism ended today, people like you and all the other poverty pimps would have to find some other weak cannard to throw at us evil republicans. you want to talk about racism?
Start with Affirmative Action.(sorry, we can't hire you; you're white)
You seem to think minorites are so stupid that they need racists like you to save them because obviously(in your eyes)they are uncapable of helping themselves.
Poverty pimps such as yourself don't want racism to end because if it did your constituency would have nobody to blame for the failures that your
idiotic policies created in the first place.
Ross, a few points.
1.I have no idea what a poverty pimp is, please explain.
2.The word is not "uncapable" its "incabable".
3. I don't get your point on race. I don't agree with "positive discrimination" (AA) but I don't think a sitting Senator should make racist comments either. Especially one from a former Slave State. And especially one who has past links to White supremacy groups. Maybe government shouldn't take resposibility for making racial relations better, but it certainly shouldn't make them worse!
4. Just to try to get a sense of what I believe, I have no problem with a conservative like Ron Paul. But you seem to be from the Strom Thurmond wing of the Republican party. I don't support that.
Does everyone see the irony of Haha correcting someone else on their spelling? And then his correction is wrong! Incabable isn't even a word. Are you stupid, or what?
Get a command of the language, and then make your argument!
By the way, why do you post under two different names? Do you think it adds more weight to your weak assertions? It doesn’t.
Ross is right, you are a joke. No wonder you suddenly go silent when anyone challenges you to intelligently back up your argument.
This is the last time I will feed our resident troll, I promise.
Was going to say: why humor him? Time to get off the crazy train AM.
What when did I go silent?
I'll answer anything.
And I changed my name b/c this site was blocking my posts for awhile. I thought it might help.
Please. BTW none of this makes George Allen less racist or any of you more honorable for defending him.
