The Truth Hurts

When former President Bill Clinton invoked slavery and mistreatment of Indians after 9/11, and said that Americans of European lineage were "not blameless," no prominent Democrat condemned his remarks. When Congressmen David Bonior and Jim McDermott visited Baghdad in the lead-up to the Iraq war, leading Democrats kept any outrage to themselves. When presidential candidate Howard Dean called for a fair trial for Osama bin Laden, Democrats considered the former Vermont governor their frontrunner. When Senator Dick Durbin compared U.S. interrogators at Guantanamo Bay to Nazis and Communists, the Democratic leadership stayed mum. But when Karl Rove described liberals as limp-wristed in their response to 9/11, Senators Harry Reid, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and other leading Democrats finally found the outrage that had eluded them in the past. Does not the very vocal offense taken by Democrats to Rove's observation, and their muteness in response to the recklessness of Dean, Durbin, and McDermott, prove Rove's point?

Sounds like they need to moveon.org.

There has been so much outrage against what Democrats have been saying (or, in some cases not saying) that they needed some little thing so that they could feign outrage.

What Rove said was true and not an insult at all. In fact, it was not specifically directed at the Democratic Party. Rove referred to “Liberals” whose representatives after 9/11 called for petitions and not actions in response to the horror.

With all the crap and sabotage the liberals and the Democrats alike have perpetrated on our current administration and the country as a whole, they have big brass ones to pick such a weak example as a comeback.

Funny though: its telltale that those Democrat pols took offense when the comment was directed at “Liberals” exclusively. Me thinks they protest too much!

My congresswoman, Leftist Jan Schkowsky of Evanston, IL, thinks the Bush Admin (not Durbin for his comments) should apologize for Gitmo.

I think we should all be a little bit more understanding of the left. I mean be reasonable to these people will you.

You seem to be expecting that they be something other than the inconsisntent, morally moronic, intellectually vacuous dunces they are.

Be fair already. You are expecting to much of them.

Regarding the Democrats' outrage over Rove's remarks, and paraphrasing the Bard - methinks the Dems doth protest too much.
