Judicial Campaigns

Did you get your "Confirm Alito" lawn signs and bumperstickers yet? Not your style? Perhaps you'll find the forthcoming anti-Alito television ads from People for the American Way more to your liking. The political theatrics are tacky, but what did you expect? The campaign atmosphere surrounding judicial nominations is the inevitable consequence of a legal body usurping a political role. When judges stop acting as legislators and start acting as judges, the American people will quit treating the confirmation process like an election. Until then, get used to such vulgarities as anti-Alito thundersticks and oversized, pro-Alito, styrofoam "number one" hands.

Alito: another pathetic coward a la Roberts that doesn't have the courage of conviction to stand up for the truth. Abortion is morally unjustifiable and should never be defended by anyone. That this utter scumbag has respect for precedent doesn't impress me or justify his ruling to protect partial birth abortion. It is an indisputable fact that he is an accomplice to hundreds of partial birth abortions, which is nothing short of murder.

I want to see the poster of Scarface with Alito's head in place of Pacino. The title should read "Scalito's Way" and he's holding a copy of the constitution instead of a machine gun, saying "Say hello to my little friend!" That'd rock.
