No Thanks

"Help is on the way." No thank you, I can help myself.

John Kerry's Thursday night mantra reminds me of the ten scariest words in the English language: "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you."

Amen to that, Dan. The liberals' idea of "help" is more programs with more loopholes and flaws. I overcame my disability on my own (with some prodding by my wife and Warrior), not with the help of any program.

And these programs always work against the freedom of the individual to overcome their own problems. Instead, it is "overcome them our way, OR ELSE."

Besides, if there are any programs to be done, the Federal government has no Constitutional authority to do so. Such programs should be the domian of the States (10th Amendment).

Be well,

Yes, but if we can help ourselves, why would we need them? Right?!

When this country was founded, the government was constructed to manage the affairs of state, exclusively. Since FDR (and it could be argued somewhere around the beginning of the 20th century) government has become overpowering and intrusive. Presently, it is chock full of career politicians who understand that they control a populace that’s captive and ever more willing to capitulate.

So, if these jokers can continue to convince us lemmings that what they giveth (at our expense) is essential to our survival, we’re along for the ride, baby!

And the worst three words in golf are, "you're still away."

Well that may be the case but what is really disturbing in my opinion is how so many so-called conservatives and Republicans abuse those oh so scary 10 words! Does anybody realistically think that the people of America need help when it comes to what to do with our sex lives, marriage, abortion, executing potentially guilty people because of justice for families which may not believe in it and anything else that we may do that is immoral?? No thanks dude, I can help myself!!

Mike,

In all fairness, there are some disabled people that have no avenues of support other than the government programs. I think that most of us "disabled" people want out of those programs, but there are some that have no way out of it, due to severe disabilities.
In the hospital visits I have taken, I have seen the severely handicapped abandoned by their families. These people need SOMETHING. This is not a savage culture which throws it's infirmed out into the cold to die. What are the answers, I do not know.

What I do know is that the "leaders" in Washington have no clue about the plight of the disabled. Did you know that my disability check was just over $800, yet my health insurance is $750? What was my alternative, just not have healthcare, the necessary medicine and treatments I need to live? Darwinism works just fine in the animal kingdom, but we are better than that in America, at least that is what we tell the rest of the world, isn't it?
Now, to be fair, I have seen some "disabled" people who conned the system and (pardon the pun) "sponge" off of the taxpayers.

No, I do not know the answers to this dilemma, but I do know the States could do a better job than the federal government, partially due to diseconomies of scale.

Keep in mind though, I do respect your opinion, I just don't agree with it.

Be well,

Sponge

Firebrand your right people should be able to murder inocent children just because those kids would make their life hard. I have a question for you do you think it is ok for us to take away the right of someone in the food industry to not wash their hands after using the restroom? I think we should force them to wash their hands we should not incourge such a discusting habbit. But yet we are suppose to tolerate the gays discusting habit.
