'F' As In Fundraising

Rockers Dave Grohl and Liz Phair, as well as Jack Black's Tenacious D, played a glitzy Hollywood fundraiser for the Kerry campaign earlier this week. Lance Bass, William H. Macey, David Spade, and Lisa Loeb were among the celebrities who helped raise $200,000 at the event.

Democratic candidates relying on actors and rock stars to raise money is nothing new. Actors and rock stars frequently uttering the "f" word at a presidential fundraiser, however, strikes me as a relatively recent phenomenon. Phair played a number of songs that included the "f" bomb, for instance, and Jack Black labeled President Bush "the worst f---ing president in the history of time."

When Phair, Black, and Grohl used the king of four-letter words at the Kerry event, did they think they were doing their candidate a favor? John Kerry is running for president--of the United States, not of the cannabis club.

Driving to work today I heard "Maps" on the radio, the song first caught my eye reading the old Flynn Files and then caught my ear when I heard it.

I'm glad you heard it here first. I hope you like it. In my opinion, "Maps" is the best song on the radio in several years. I also own several Liz Phair albums, who I reference in the post, and I don't turn the station when I hear Foo Fighters or any other Dave Grohl project. I just get a kick out of celebrities who volunteer to help campaigns but end up hurting them by being so out of touch with the way the rest of us act--in this case by using the "f" word numerous times at a candidate event. Are they trying to win over the Martin Lawrence vote with all the "f" bombs?

How can you change the channel when you are the person who is still requesting Mott The Hoople "All The Young Dudes" and tormenting the D.J's at three A.M, i dont think you have heard a good song since FNX went the way of the "pirate"!

I don't have a clue who the hell any of these people are or WHY I should give a "F" for a damn thing they say. I'll bet done have them have the equivalent of a high school diploma between them.

I couldn't care less what any of these so-called "glitzy Hollywood" types think because I don't think they are capable of critical thinking.

I guess I'm just a "F-ing" little old lady who's been around long enough to know these kind of people are what used to be called "useful idiots" by people like Stalin.
