Christmas in January

It appears that the memory "seared" in John Kerry's consciousness wasn't so seared after all. After the Kerry campaign's smear job against Swift Boat Veterans for Truth failed to obfuscate the truth, the Democratic Party's nominee has turned to partisan historian Douglas Brinkley to report that Kerry didn't spend "Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia," but fought on Cambodian soil a month later. Had Kerry not repeatedly and with certitude drawn on this image of Christmas in Cambodia, it's doubtful that this would even be a story. It is, however, a major story--one that has called his credibility into question, damaged his candidacy, and shot Unfit for Command (buy it here) to the top of the sales charts on Amazon.

Isn't it odd that while "Unfit for Command" is #1 on Amazon it has zero comments?

Amazon doesn't allow comments until the book is technically out. This means that if you were to buy my book you could on Amazon, but they wouldn't be able to send it to you until an embargoed date. Additionally, to control for quality--i.e., to prevent reviews by reviewers who haven't read the book--they don't allow reviews until roughly when the book is released. This, of course, doesn't stop people who haven't read books from reviewing them. It just stops the ones penned by those who couldn't possibly have read the books--since the book is not available to the public. I believe the O'Neill book is released next Tuesday. Check Amazon then and there will be several dozen reviews.

John Kerry gets the Bronze Star for an act of heroism and his crew doesn’t even get an honorable mention?

Did he perform this feat all by himself? Was he the only person on the boat?

Maybe there’s more to this, but just the fact that officers get to put themselves in for decorations is wrong enough without this joker not allowing the rising tide to raise all boats, so to speak, and consider that the men under his command might have been a wee part of his success.
