Grow Up Don't Throw Up

When Antonin Scalia spoke at New York University this week, a student asked: "Do you sodomize your wife?" Should the Supreme Court justice be thankful that insults were the only thing hurled his way? This academic year, leftists have thrown pies at campus speakers David Horowitz, William Kristol, and Ann Coulter (and missed in this last instance), hurled a shoe at Richard Perle, and dumped salad dressing on Pat Buchanan.

The post-election liberal brat-fit reached new lows at Harvard University on Tuesday. The school hosted a career panel on counterterrorism featuring representatives of the Central Intelligence Agency and the Department of Homeland Security that the Harvard-Square Left predictably disrupted. Student Elise Stefanik explains: "The propagandists’ techniques of disruption varied: their base tactics ranged from coughing incessantly to the point where none of the panelists could be heard, interrupting presentations to ask ludicrous questions such as 'Isn’t it true you train your employees to torture,' staging a mock deportation of an ethnic minority protestor midway through the discussion, clapping obnoxiously to halt the dialogue, and ridiculing students who posed legitimate questions to the panelists. A protestor sitting three rows behind me physically made himself vomit." If throwing food or throwing up is your manner of counterargument, isn't this an admission that you've lost the debate?

Stefanik notes the irony of rich kids protesting for, among other causes, "workers' rights" by throwing up on the floor of a lecture hall: "who do you think will clean up the remnants of your protest?"

When Liberals throw food at conservative speakers that just goes to show you the mentality of those leftist scumbags. My 2 year old niece doesnt even throw food. The Leftist "Freedom of Speech and we promote Tolerance also" Liberals are just trying to shut conservatives up from telling the truth about them.

The Political Left couldn't be helping the right more, and I can only hope they continue this behavior. Their spoiled, child-like views only alienate the average American more and more every day.

As the arch-villain himself, Vladimir Lenin once said about the Western Political Left, they are "Useful Idiots."

Although I hold disdain for these acts showcased by liberal students and strongly disagree with them it is a funny to note that a few students actions have roused the right into calling them leftist scumbags.

The truth about liberals is that they're in the same position Republicans were in 1993. They're mad as hell about the abuses of power by the right and they're mad about the direction this country has taking. A wrong direction that many view we're headed. The show of arrogance on the right grows by the day and with each day it grows more and more therefore it becomes a problem for this country... a big problem.

Ben-T is right the political left couldn't be helping the right more in getting itself booted out of power next year especially if good ole' boy Tom Delay stays in power. The left does not alienate the average American every day as Ben-T assumes. If the left alienates anyone its the religious zealots of the right. They are the ones who believe that all Democrats are secular by nature and are somehow demonically evil. This couldn't be farther from the truth.

I'll admit the actions of those students is wrong and indecent by all accounts however don't assume the left is alienating the American public. This couldn't be farther from the true reality of a party drunk with power.

Well, as we all know it is commonplace for radical liberals to commit these type of heinous acts. After all they welcome such behavior in the privacy of their own homes. Such as tossing warm yogurt on each others backs or maybe a substance a little bit more perverted.

Well I for one can't wait till somebody throws a pie at Warrior. I heard things got a little hot when he spoke at UCONN recently but nothing he couldn't handle.

Now hit that music and let the beatdown begin!

I suppose thats why we have the Patriot Act?

The loony left shows once again how out of control they are.

From their belief in the ‘Vast Right Wing Conspiracy’ to fairy tales about voter fraud to demonstrating their disdain for the First Amendment through childish acts of social disobedience, they are rebels without a clue.

Anything Republican and, especially, Bush will do for a reason to act up.

Also, let’s not forget about drive-by shootings targeting GOP headquarters across the country; union mobs who stormed the offices of Bush/Cheney volunteers; anti-Bush thugs who burned swastikas onto Republican homeowners' lawns; paid Democratic staffers charged with slashing the tires of Republican get-out-the-vote vans on Election Day.

For a group that touts diversity, it’s clear that they are completely not in favor of the political kind.

Don't fault the left too hard for antics like this. The perpetrators of these things are just a bunch of spoilt children. And what else is the left going to do ? Offer an argument ? That is beyond the ability of these yobbos.

Whats worse a few stupid college kids throwing pies or grown adults shooting doctors outside abortion clinics. I think kids will be kids, its the way adults like Ann "i pull facts out of my ass" Coulter behave that is really horrible.

Posted by: joe henderson on April 15, 2005 11:36 AM

Hmmm...how many doctors do you hear about shooting abortion doctors?..not very many. How many unruly college liberals do you hear about ransacking conservative commentaters? So far this month..3..maybe 4 and there are probably alot more out there unoticed because we know how bias the media is.

Posted by: James on April 15, 2005 12:15 PM

There is no proof that shootings perpetrated by some misguided people have anything to do with them being politically or socially right of center. I’m getting sick of the leftists generalizing and using as a rebuttal that most who are right leaning are from the so-called “religious right”.

Also, I doubt that by degree Ann Coulter’s diatribes and colloquialisms are worse than some of the venomous hate speech from the loony left.

People like Coulter write and speak about their basic beliefs and observations for love and money. A growing number of libs demonstrate that they are psychotic about theirs.

Posted by: asdf on April 15, 2005 12:34 PM

Coulter is a fake PERIOD!!!

She is pretty damn phony and anyone who falls for her **** has been duped in my opinion. I'd rather listen to Rush Limbaugh AND I am not even a Republican.

Great words of wisdom Anonymous! I think I will stop reading Ann's books now that you've spoken your diarrhea for this subject.

To my dear friend James:

When did opinion become a symptom?

Posted by: Anonymous on April 15, 2005 02:33 PM

Coulter is a bright babe with a talent for writing and speaking. I would have no reason to think that the ideas she communicates are not her own honest thoughts and philosophies.

She just happens to be on the right side of the political fence too (pun intended).

The left has a bunch of dishonest nutty talking heads and uninformed media skanks.

I can see where they’d be jealous enough to throw salad dressing and blow chunks.

Posted by: asdf on April 15, 2005 02:46 PM

To my dear stranger Anonymous:
Im not your friend
Your opinion is flawed
When has any liberal commentater had pie thrown at them? I dont hear anything about it, because the media is biased towards liberals, and believe me you would have heard it on CNN or CBS. You just cant stand the fact that all liberals are very childish, and that when we speak the truth about them, you all pitch a hissy-fit and resort to tossing pies and salad dressing.

Lighten up James. This is suppose to be a happy, enlightening place. The exchanges are to be friendly and respectful. Please accommodate us all with a new found appreciation for harmony in these threads.

Thank you.

To my fellow American James:

You're right! I am not your friend... I am just a stranger.

I think those who throw pies are disingenous and obviously wrong for doing so. I believe in free speech(Who doesn't? Oh thats right the Bush administration) and I don't necessarily believe that their is VAST left wing conspiracy as some of you (Ann Coulter) believe. You sound a bit annoyed by my comments stranger. Maybe a little stroking of your ego will suffice.

I find it funny the assumption that those on the right are intellectual and informed while those on the left are nutty and uninformed. Those are some tough words for US on the left to be dealt with. I'd rather describe them as passionate with flair for the dramatic. They shoot from the hip and when they're mad they show it just like Tom Delay does when he sees people will pay for Terri Schiavo's death.

"Coulter is a bright babe"

Blond hair and long legs don't make her a babe. She is not that attractive at all my fellow strangers. I mean give me a break.. the Bush twins are hot, Jessica Simpson is hot, Brittany Spears is hot, Katie Couric is in a way hit, and Ann Coulter is not.

"Tom Delay does when he sees people will pay for Terri Schiavo's death."

I meant when he says people will pay...

Thanks, Dan, for the good sense of placing the Olympic bomber alongside the Harvard vomiter. It's important to show anti-democratic extremists of all political stripes for what they are, whether brats or murderers.

Having been a "hard" Leftist during my college years, however, I will say "Thank you" for calling attention to this behavoir by Leftists in particular. Pathetic theatrical assaults - salad dressing, cream pies, and now vomit - seem a bilious (literally!) derivative of the Yippie movement which 35 years ago attempted to inject hilarity (along with promiscuous sex and drugs) into grim and losing confrontations with American power. Recall the '68 DNC demonstrators who brought a pig to Chicago, and Pentagon demonstrators who meditated to try to levitate (!) that building. But as "the Movement" fell apart, and failure-upon-failure set in, the humor departed while the theatricality remained, with ever more vicious - indeed, criminal - spite. If I recall correctly, circa 1990 an activist in the California Peace and Freedom Party, Aaron Aarons, poured or attempted to pour acid on a Berkeley City Councilmember.

Thinking of that last example, it's also worth noting that the Left (probably the Right, too) can devour its own. Never forget that the iconic photo of Malcom X (né Little) hoisting a rifle was taken as he defended himself from Black Muslims. And remember Whittaker Chambers keeping a revolver at arm's length during the years immediately after he defected from the American Communist Party, as defended himself from Communist operatives.

Spitfly:
"a few students actions have roused the right into calling them leftist scumbags."

Actually, that's "has roused James to call them 'leftist scumbags'" If it's only a few students on the left, then James represents James on the right.

"VAST left wing conspiracy"

I think it quite humorous that the left mainstream invented the term "vast x-wing conspiracy" (not Luke Skywalker, though), yet now the left uses the phrase as an idea of the overblown "paranoia" of the right.

Double standard, anyone? (No? You're full up already?)

"I'd rather describe them as passionate with flair for the dramatic."

Or "incontinent", as I describe them. Very few of us here aren't saying the same thing.

"passionate with a flair for the dramatic" is also how I might describe certain liberals as well. And that is how I might describe die-ins and throwing Caesar dressing on a speaker. So I don't get how that makes this a-typical of a certain brand of liberalism.

Especially the strain that is still proud of having shut down the city of San Francisco over Berkley not getting their approval to sell the "People's Park", a piece of property owned by the university. This is where this kind of tantrum started.

Time Mag., once again, paints a conservative unfavorably.

Coulter is now, according to them, part of the VRWC and they make her cover photo look as strange as possible.
