"Arriving at home, my housemate said Adam had flown into a wooden chair and broke his neck. In a freak accident, my baby was taken away from me prematurely." This comes from the website of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The "Adam" the writer is discussing is a turkey. "Standing beside his crucifix-decorated grave, my commitment to animal protection was revitalized," this unglued individual writes. "I was compelled to use the pain from his passing as a proactive springboard for action. Adam would not want me to fold in the face of tragedy."

It's that time of year again. The time of year when "more than 45 million turkeys will have their beaks and toes cut off without painkillers and their throats slit while they are still conscious--all so that they can become part of someone’s Thanksgiving dinner." Well, according to PETA, that's what Thanksgiving is about.

Years ago, Saturday Night Live did a skit featuring the character Cinder Calhoun, an out-to-lunch animal rights activist who sang:

We gather together for yams, beans, and cranberry sauce.
But have you given much thought lately to the Turkey Holocaust?
Twenty million noble birds slaughtered every fall.
Ain't no difference between Hitler, Stalin -- and the folks at Butterball!

It's generally considered a bad sign when the movement you're in exceeds the parodies of it in the crazy department.

Holidays do not get any better than Thanksgiving!!

I met a vegetarian once. I asked her if she belonged to PETA. She looked at me in horror. She said she did not eat animals because she didn't think it was healthy, but that PETA is a crock of shit.

Suffice it to say I don't agree with the idea that eating animals is unhealthy. It was, nonetheless, refreshing to meet at least one vegetarian out there who has a clear idea of what PETA is.

I think vegetarians are evil. They KILL LIVING CREATURES that are unable to run away or fightback. What about the corn? What about the pooor, defenseless tomatoes? Oh, the humanity!

Man evolved as a carnivore. Our ancestors did not grow brains by sneaking up on a leaf.

Non-human animals have no rights for the same reasons they have no responsibilities. Ever try suing a cat for trespass? "Animal rights" is a category error of the first water.

Not according to Peter Singer.

Peter Singer is a tool.

If you call Peter Singer a tool, his apologists will say "yeah, he's a tool for the oppressed."

Then change my insult by a letter . . . Singer is a fool. [ And please don't respond that he is "fool" of sympathy for the oppressed. ;) ]

I lvoe animals, they're delicious. SOmeone needs to tell the PETA people that people like me cannot eat vegetables due to health problems.
