The campaign over the airwaves moves forward. Besides writing, I like talk radio better than any other medium. I've appeared on a couple dozen shows since the book's release. Earlier this week, one host--Alan Nathan on Radio America--began shouting incoherently at me because I disagreed with him on Iraq. On Thursday, I was interviewed by Joy Cardin on Wisconsin Public Radio. Although it was pretty apparent that Cardin was no sympathizer with conservative ideas, she let me answer questions. It was a real discussion rather than a verbal foodfight. One caller--a university professor in the UW system--objected to my critique of academia as an intellectual ghetto. To rebut my point, he noted that the professors in his department had a diversity of views on the 2004 election--they were split on Nader and Kerry! This is what he said. I am not joking.
Next week, I may be appearing on a transistor radio near you. On Monday, October 4, I'll be interviewed by Greg Garrison--he prosecuted Mike Tyson--in Indianapolis at Noon EDT on WIBC. In Philadelphia, I'll be appearing on The Michael Smerconish Show (WPHT) on Tuesday, October 5 at 8:30 a.m. EDT. A few hours later, at 11:15 a.m. EDT to be exact, I'll discuss Intellectual Morons on The Laura Ingraham Show, which goes out nationally. Thursday, I'll discuss the book on KSMR's The Other Side with Chevis and Joe out of Dallas at 8:30 p.m. CDT. Tune in and call in. If you hear me on the airwaves on these or other programs (other radio updates coming soon), let me know what you think in the comments section.
It's interesting to hear you talk about verbal food fights with progressive talk show hosts. Here in Utah we're enmeshed in a strange controversy in that UVSC invited Michael Moore to come speak on campus and invited Shawn Hannedy to speak about 2 weeks following. Several major donors to the college have threatened to cut off funding if Moore is allowed to speak. Small groups of students are vocally objecting as well.
It's queer considering the tactics of the two men. Michael Moore certainly probes for the answer he wants, but he does it in subtle and outwardly friendly ways. I don't have much experience with Shawn Hannedy, but from what I've heard he doesn't wait for a caller to say anything left of Hitler before he berrates them for being stupid and uninformed.
Why do you hate America?
Firstly, I'm honored that you would consider my meager post worthy of your lofty response.
Second, I love America. Given opportunities to leave and set up shop elsewhere, I've opted to stay. I might add that I said nothing about America in my post.
I might also add that tickets to Michael Moore sold out almost immediately. I'm not sure what tickets to your show are doing, but it speaks volumes in favor of the character of UVSC students that so many would pay to have their opinions challenged in one of the most conservative schools in one of the most conservative counties in one of the most conservative states in America. Despite your best attempts FREE SPEECH IS NOT DEAD!
Why are you apologizing for the terrorists?
Hey Freckleton, you dumb ass, you are obviously so unfamiliar with SEAN HANNITY, that you neither understand his politics or know how to spell his name.
Try reading something before you make some stupid damn comment.
They breed numbnuts out West there?
You fall right in line with what liberal are known to be.
Hey ASDF you illiterate primate. In my original post I made it clear that I had very little experience with Sean Hannity. I'm not apologizing for that OR FOR HIM. I'm not necessarily going to seek out his show if his best argument is "Why do you hate America?"
Mind you, I live in a state who hasn't elected a liberal politician since the late 1800's so yes, the west has a tendency to breed numbnuts. And I'm not going to bother correcting the grammar in your last sentence.
If this is the best of the conservative debators...
Freckleton, that's not the real Sean Hannity that's posting.
Thanks. Just for the record, for those who aren't willing to take responsibility for their opinions, who hide behind someone else's name, my name is Chris Freckleton and every opinion and argument, unless credit is given to the true author, is mine. The email I give is my real email. You do a disservice to your ideas by undermining their legitimacy in this way.
True.
