The 112th Congress opens today with a reading of the Constitution in the House of Representatives. Members should pay special attention to Article 1, which outlines the powers entrusted to Congress that Congress has outsourced. From the Fed to the EPA to the FCC, the Obama Administration has bypassed Congress, and the Constitution, to impose its increasingly unpopular agenda. But as I write in my column @ Human Events, the powers a lazy and masochistic Congress has given away were not theirs to give.
That was a really, really great article. I'm glad to read something that encourages greater levels of democratic control as opposed to top-down tyranny. Now, if your beliefs regarding particular principles were more consistent, then we'd be getting somewhere.
"opposed to top-down tyranny."
You mean like we've had since the 2006 Dem Congress and have had exponentially under the most corrupt, lawless administration in history under Barack Insane Obama?
Is that the kind of top-down tyranny you're talking about? If it isn't, they are pretty darn good example.

Speaking of top down tyranny:
http://www.american.com/archive/2011/january/chavez-has-begun-to-take-the-path-of-dictatorship
Why is it erstwhile "Socialists" always end up gathering power to themselves under the guise of "helping the people" and then ruling as dictators?
Interesting how our Secretary of State has been making nice with that scumbag.
He and Obama (who was kissing his third world derriere at the Summit of the Americas almost two years ago) had a slight tiff over diplomatic relations because now Chavez thinks he should have a vote on policies of the United States.
But does anybody doubt that they are ideological kin?
If he could, Obama would surely rule as Chavez does. But this pesky thing called the Constitution just won't let him get any traction. Yet.
On another note, wanted to break into that old Oz song today about the wicked witch being dead.
Good riddance to Pelosi and four years of the most destructive and corrupt Congress in recent history. Under which, the National Debt was inflated another 60%.
The sad thing about Venezuela is that he managed to get there, "democratically".
Apparently P.T. Barnum was right.
I will not miss Pelosi (although her gaffs were kind of funny to watch on youtube), but she certainly was effective in her role. Too bad.
That weird little laugh was entertaining. Always sounded to me like somebody who had attended too many Grateful Dead concerts.
At the end of the day, she was a mental way left San Franciscan who wielded way too much power for someone of her lack of intellectual and political ability and helped to do much damage.
Oh, and P.T. Barnum's theory easily applies to too much of America these days (and especially in Massachusetts).
Talk to people everyday who don't have a clue and don't want a clue. Then they c0mplain about taxes, destructive social policies, etc. when those things all of sudden affect their day to day. My comment for those disengaged is that elections have consequences.
Ultimately, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't beat it with a baseball bat to make it drink. As much as one would like to sometimes.
