Congressman Anthony Weiner used to like cameras. Former Senator John Edwards once adored courtrooms. Now they dread them. Read my column @ Human Events about the seedy rise and ironic fall of two embodiments of the very worst--celebrity worship and litigiousness run amok--that American culture has to offer.
How the HELL can he consider not stepping down after SLANDERING Breitbart, knowing full well that Mr. Breitbart's organization didn't hack anyone. His "apology" would have been totally unacceptable to me, especially as he characterized the whole thing as "frivolous". I sincerely hope Mr. Breitbart sues this jackass.
Of course this disgusting leftist weasel apologized to Breitbart. Not only does he have him legally by the gonads but he also possesses a pornographic picture of Weiner that he could choose to release at any time.
This Weiner reprobate is like Barney Frank in Massachusetts – his constituency will NEVER vote him out. But the good news is that the Dem leadership which are usually so in your face arrogant about these things and typically could care less, are looking to jettison this guy.
He should be gone by the end of the week for a number of reasons.
Anyone who tries to make the argument that personal failings don't have anything to do with job performance deserves to be betrayed in every conceivable way and unceasingly mocked, period. This "idea" is perhaps the dumbest one ever conceived and is sadly most often deployed by the left. Private vices always affect behavior, for good or ill.
Pelosi and Israel made a bad decision by not calling for him to resign immediately. This is going to dog the Dems until he's out office.
I loved his excuse for not stepping down. He didn't break any laws (and as far as he knew none of the ladies were under the age of consent).
So, no laws broken. Just lies to his wife, the media, his CONSTITUENTS, etc. At least Chris Lee (also a reprobate) had the decency to step down.
And just what sort of "vice" test should one be administered to ensure suitability for office?
Any vice that interferes with your ability to perform your duties as an elected official and that brings dishonor to your community, elected body, and your country, period. Obviously, this ridiculous and stupid behavior has so consumed Weiner that he cannot control himself or adequately perform his duties as a congressman.
If you can't control yourself and it affects the political goals of your party, that supposedly benefits your country, you shouldn't be a public official. It's not hard to understand. What don't you understand about that, Homer? If you had some shitty corporate position wherein you sent nude photos to citizens of said company's community, and that brought disrepute to the company you worked for, should you be able to skate and claim like an asshole, "My personal failings have nothing to do with my professional duties"? It's absurd and a bad joke. Why should public officials be able to get away with something that any worker would be immediately fired over?
Bottom line, public officials who are bestowed with immense power should be held to a higher standard. If you're not on board with that, you're an aristocrat or an asshole.
All I wondered was how high your standard actually was. There comes a point where no one could hope to stand.
