Like Uncle, Like Niece

Dynastic politics at its worst? Check. Inarticulateness that makes Britney Spears sound like Winston Churchill in comparison? Check. Voting-booth apathy by a wannabe senator? Check. Like Uncle, Like Niece, my piece at CityJournalOnline, explores the eery similarities between Ted Kennedy's rookie run for the Senate in 1962 and Caroline Kennedy's neophyte bid for a Senate seat in 2009. Read it, and weep.

I suppose that it has, to an extent, always been this way. If one is a member of the LSC, competence and experience is out the window. But I heard that interview with Caroline SCHLOSSBERG kennedy and she made Uncle Ted sound like the president of the Harvard Debating Team. I know it's too much to ask for MENSA candidates these days but at least let's elect (or appoint?) people who can string three words together without a ‘you know’ in between!

It really cracks me up how the same liberal numb nuts who will support a Kennedy, any Kennedy, are the same ones who pontificate and make fun of how GW or Sarah Palin speak and question their intelligence because of it.

Blatant hypocrites to the end.

Some interesting parallels unearthed between Teddy and Caroline. The juxtapositions of these two in not "climbing" the political ladder to the U.S. Senate as emulous, embittered rivals, possessed of their own senses of entitlement (albeit entitlement based upon real public service experience) were/are steamrolled are sometimes downright eerie. Still and withal, the gratuitous reference to RFK jr. as a "one time heroin addict turned environmentalist seems over the top and an unbecoming accompanyment to the serious nature of the comparison between Caroline and Ted.

Why was Jeb Bush elected the govener of Florida?

Could it be name recognition and family?

Why was W. elected to president?
Did it have to do with his outstanding military service? NO.

Could it possible have been name recognition?

By no means do I give Caroline nor Ted a pass on this one, but it is by all means a two way street. I personally don't see any reason that she should be a senator. That's the game for ya'.

Stop pretending that Democrats are the only dirty party.

Jeb Bush can actually string a sequence of thoughts together and communicate those thoughts. To a large extent, so can his brother.

Both rose to be pretty good State governors and one to be a two term President of this here United States. Just too bad he wasn't a Republican.

Without Daddy's money buying and paying for political offices and later with the assistance of entrenched relatives, the Kennedy's would be a historical footnote as just members of a rich dysfunctional family.

Can't compare the the Bushes to the weak minded scions of America's former liberal elite.
