Do not adjust your television set. The teams gracing your big screen this weekend sporting odd color schemes and unfamiliar uniforms are NFL franchises, not high school clubs. The first time I watched teams play with throwback uniforms I thought it was cool. By the time the experience had reached the triple digits, the novelty had worn off. Read my article @ the American Spectator explaining that, while nine times out of ten a throwback conjures up tradition, the NFL's marketing gimmick undermines it.
Good piece.
I would agree with this. For some kind of anniversary or the like, a special event, I get it. But arbitrarily dressing these guys down in the old uniforms is a drag. Especially when the "Tennessee Titans" become the "Houston Oilers" or the Jets go back to being the Titans. And, as an aside, seeing “Pat Patriot” again conjures up memories that I would prefer to be left in the past.
One other thing sort of related to this - who in THE HELL thought it was a good idea to dig up the old Montreal Canadiens uniforms for nostalgia's sake?! The hypnotizing horizontal stripes make the players look like they jumped a chain gang someplace.
Overall: retro uniforms should remain in the past.

I thought Babe Parilli was a fine quarterback. Of course there was not much else going on back then. At least not that I recall.
