Once an African American secured a major party's presidential nomination, did you think religion and not race would dominate the national conversation? From Reverend Wright to a "What He Believes" Newsweek cover to crude rumors of a Muslim upbringing to an upcoming appearance with John McCain at Rick Warren's megachurch, Barack Obama's run for the presidency has been chased by religion at every turn. I'm a believer, Obama professes. But a believer in what? In my article featured on TakiMag (read it: articles > blog posts), I show how the presumptive Democratic nominee's belief in the social gospel, federalizing local charitable initiatives, and, yes, immanentizing the eschaton makes his faith as much a political as a religious creed.
A very well written piece, Dan. I wonder if you have any thoughts on "immanentizing the eschaton" and, say, the Massachusettes Bay colony.
A city upon a hill, we are not.
But the comic relief rendered by living in the Republic is priceless.
"Presumptive" isn't that kind of like "uppity"?
Okay, you've convinced me: Obama is the AntiChrist.
The truth is he believes in socialism. Maybe even communism which eradicates religion completely. Any reference he makes to the subject seems to be a CYA blanket statement to sooth all of those potential voters who do believe in something.
Basically, he believes in the power of government.
BTW, they still haven't verified his birth certificate yet. To date, his handlers have provided a not all too believable photo copy.
I imagine that McCain's birth certificate is probably etched in stone...

I expect that it doesn't matter the Obama zombies if he's really a natural born American citizen or not. But it is a hard fast qualifying requirement to be President. Small detail, right?
Then again, for the Obamanations, his Father the Lord sent him to Earth so I suppose dieties don't need birth certificates.
Obama was born in Hawaii after it became a state. His mother is an American. He's a natural-born citizen. What do people expect to find on his birth certificate? (This isn't a rhetorical question. I'm curious.) It's interesting that the Left has also brought up this question regarding McCain because he was born in the Panama Cana1 zone.
Obama has bigger problems than just worrying about his birth certificate. But it's been just one more thing advertised as a question mark about this guy.
The controversy centers around the shoddy photo copy his campaign posted on his website and there have been some questions about whether or not it's an authentic document like the ones the state of Hawaii would provide.
There's been no question about the authenticity of McCain's. Just the circumstances he was born into. Which, it has been determined, are perfectly ok.
Hows about the Messiah's plan to have the government steal oil company profits and re-distribute the money by handing it over as 'stimulus' checks to the great unwashed? That ought to solve our energy problems. What a dope.
The "post-racial" candidate.....
