Maine parents whose nineteen-year-old daughter became pregnant allegedly "tied her up with rope, gagged her with duct tape, and put her in the family Lexus and drove her across state lines, intent on forcing her to have an abortion," according to the Boston Globe. The daughter escaped and called the police before reaching a distant abortuary that her parents apparently believed would perform an abortion under duress. Would you like to be a fly on the wall at the family reunion? "Hi, we're your grandparents. We love you even though we tried to kill you."
That's totally not legal.
Her parents should be tried.
"That's totally not legal."
Indeed. The child should have the right to murder her own child or grant a reprieve without any outside interference. What barbarians her parents are. If they were rational, they'd understand that the "choice" of infanticide is the sovereign right of the mother.
I'm amazed that the Globe used the words "unborn child." Usually the media uses some tortured phrase like "unborn fetus."
The ending quote is great: "I can't imagine a doctor who would perform an abortion on someone who is bound and gagged." Aren't all abortions performed on someone who is bound and gagged in way?
Many years ago I had an awkward talk with my grandmother in which I found out she had suggested that my mother get an abortion or something like that. There were circumstances surrounding my mother's pregnancy and my resulting birth which would have made such an option not unreasonable. Even though I could understand it as being a reasonable action, I never quite thought of my grandmother the same way. Thankfully my mother wasn't too influenced by my grandmother.
OB: that's quite an admission from both of you. None of my business and I'm not asking, but for reference would love to know what the circumstances were. Anyway, glad you made it. :-)
But if mothers really do have the right to kill their children, why don't they also have the right to bound, gag, or force their children to have an abortion.
Shouldn't the abortion right be transitive? So if you have a right to kill your baby you also have a right to kill your baby's baby?
In the wonderfully liberal mindset of most pro-abortion types, you have the right to discard a growing human fetus, but if you decide not to and have the child, you have no right to manage or otherwise raise that child without intervention from Hillary’s Village.
Good one, Skeptic. Our selfish and egotistical premises always seem to find a way to foil us.
Wonder why the parents went nuts enough to want to force an abortion when they found out their daughter was pregnant? Take a look at a picture of this jail bird. Whole situation is enough to push any normal parent over the edge.
NOW, we find out that it was because the baby's father was BLACK!
Forced abortion (or any abortions, for that matter) used to preserve the purity and/or dominance of the race.
I just KNOW I've heard that before...
Is "fly on the fall" a typo? Shouldn't it be "fly on the WALL"?
Come on Homer. Yes, the guy is black, but he's a black CRIMINAL. Is this really the kind of guy someone would want to have as a son in law? Or worse, as is the case, a criminal who's the illegitimate father of their daughter's child? Easy to be righteous when it's not you in the passengers seat.
I see the error of my ways now. Let's go kill us a baby.
Sometimes, radical behavior requires a radical solution.
