That '70s Show

Do you get the feeling that you're watching repeats when you turn on the news? Gasoline costs $3.07 per gallon. American might gets a black-eye halfway round the world in Iran Iraq. The stock market stagnates. Global warming is the new acid rain. America pursues a foreign policy based on the freedoms and human rights of other nations. President Carter's Bush's approval rating lays below 40 percent. I may not be reporting this on my CB radio, but is a blog all that different? It's the 1970s again, only the music is a lot worse.

This is most certainly good news then. As Jimmah Cattah begot Ronald Reagan, could a new, as yet unknown Ronald Reagan be just below the radar screen? Please God...

If I hear "Black Benny" by Wamma Jammma, " Love Hurts" by Nazareth or anything by Foghat, someone is going to get hurt..

Interesting conservative comparison. I'll lob it at an Ivy Leaguer I recently met who worked on the Kerry campaign.

Don't forget the half-baked "retro" fashion styles - afros and hairpicks, bell bottoms ... even a knock-off of the New York City t-shirt John Lennon made famous can be yours. Speaking of NY, maybe the Yanks will overtake the Bosox again, like in '78. Seriously, though, this juvenile infatuation with the recent past.... more slouching toward Gomorrah.

Ah, here's a reality check:

Good to see that we're making progress.

In many places, the U.S. is starting to resemble a third world banana republic.

Ireland in five.
