A fat woman filed a complaint with the New Hampshire Board of Medicine because her doctor told her that she was fat and needed to change her lifestyle. The board then forwarded the matter to the New Hampshire attorney general's Administrative Prosecution Unit, which determined that the doctor should admit wrongdoing and attend a medical education class. The doctor balked. "I've made many errors in my lifetime," Dr. Terry Bennett explains. "Telling someone the truth is not one of them." Is this the government's business? If Bennett offended his patient, then she could have sought any number of other doctors. It is doubtful that any of them would tell her that a diet of Ho-Hos, Mountain Dew, and Doritos is good for you, no matter how good that lie would make her feel. The doctor who dispenses such advice is the doctor who the New Hampshire Board of Medicine should look into.
And if the doctor were to say nothing, or better yet, attempt to boost this dimensionally-challenged woman's self-image by telling her obesity is beautiful, and she died, can we assume the State of New Hampshire would approve of his peculiar practice of medicine?
From where do these clowns come?
We are reaching the heights of the absurd.
Not only are people generally fatter and unhealthier but now when a doctor, who's professional advice was sought, tells it like it is he somehow needs to be more sensitive?
There are a number things that make this whole story not newsworthy and the thin skin of our current society is one of them.
Apparently that doctor wasn't aware that fat is the new pink.
Another aspect to this little kerfuffle is that this woman is willfully living a lifestyle that she knows has already caused her significant health problems, and will undoubtedly cause her additional more serious complications in the future. And guess who is more than likely paying for her treatment; the American taxpayer. So not only does she gaff off her doctor's best medical advice, but ignores it whilst on the dole! And the State of New Hampshire actually can't figure out the real bad guy in this little tragi-comedy! Maybe these are the clowns are related to the rocket surgeons in Canton that can't figure out what's causing the incredibly high rate of teen pregnancy in the local high school!
Is this a great country or what!?!
Free speech anyone? Obviously doctors in New Hampshire don't have it, and they will be worried to give any helpful advice, because they might offend someone and get sued with the help the state.
People with absurd complaints like this should be fined and pay any and all legal fees incurred in such a farce...like the guy who sued his neighbor when he "borrowed" his lawnmower and cut his foot with it.
Or the guy that sued his ex because he got kicked out of the house, felt horny, had sex with a prostitute without protection and got AIDS.
YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!
Give this poor woman a break. Maybe she has a genetic predispositin to shoveling in all the food she can get her hands on.
Maybe she contracted "fat" from standing to close to skinny people.
Maybe the insensitive doctor should have felt sorry for her and told her that it is not her fault and helped her find someone to blame. Yeah that would help!!
She obviously prefers being fat over getting too hot at the gym and denying herself the only pleasure in her life...junk food!!
"Being fat is not a crime!"
She is starting her diet next week.
