Cartoon Muslims Don't Immigrate (Real Ones Do)

Do Muslim immigrants flee oppression to enter freedom, or do they bring oppression with them to the free nations that accept them? Muslims in the United States haven't reacted to the Danish cartoons of Muhammad in the uncivilized manner that, say, Muslims in the United Kingdom have reacted. Is this because the United States attempts to assimilate immigrants while European nations tend to opt for a multicultural approach? Is this because Islamic migrants choosing the United States also choose its values? Should the cartoon flare-up cause American policymakers to be more discriminating in what migrants they allow in and what migrants they keep out? Or, does the American Muslim community's non-violent reaction to the cartoon controversy demonstrate that the United States integrates immigrants better than Europe?

i think american muslims know we wont stand for that kind of crap going on over in europe, here in the us. our tolerance is wearing thin. american muslims have not said a word about the retards in the mid. east. and to me they are the same, just dont have the balls to act like there brothers and sisters in the arab street.

They're all just a bunch of animals, so they need to be treated like animals. Kill'em all and let God...i mean Allah sort em out!

I agree with the first post. There's no way those mass demonstrations over a CARTOON would stand here in America. Anyone tossing molotov cocktails and burning flags in the middle of our streets would get their ass beat by the cops and get tossed in jail. Muslims as a whole need to shape up and realize that they look utterly ridiculous, and only hurt themselves with such embarassing displays. I really hope this situation helps bring the whole "clash of civilizations" deal to a head. We need to address the Muslim Problem aggressively in the next few years, and stop letting them think they are so religously infallible.

The "Muslim Problem" sounds disturbingly similar to another "fill-in-the-blank Problem" from last century. I think Huntington's book is excellent, but I don't think its purpose was to bring about a "clash of civilizations."

The "Muslim Problem" reminds me of a whole host of problems that were tackled by one group or another in the manner tagm, james, and mojor are suggesting: the "counter-revolutionary problem" in 18th century France; the "Armenian problem" for Turkey; the "Ukrainian problem" for the Soviets; and of course that one that got Germans all worked up which Dan alludes to, among others.

I liked Raimondo's article today on these cartoons. His conspiracy radar is tuned to too high a pitch. Yet I think it is undeniable that the muslim rage over these provocative and offensive cartoons (which were intended to offend and provoke) is causing most of the west to respond in the exact manner that the neocons, the modern day atheist "crusaders," and the neoliberals want.

The Danish publisher, described as "right-wing" (although he is seems indistinguishable from a neoliberal---a hardcore secular democrat) uses the exact same language of a clash of civilizations that mojor uses.

I am waiting to see the lines at the recruiting offices shoot up with all these yahoos who are foaming to take on 1.3 billion muslims over . . . well, over what exactly?

Wake up, Brian. When did I ever say we should exterminate Muslims? Exactly, I never did. By saying "Muslim Problem," I am only referring to the current divide between Muslims and the West, not to any wild plan to slaughter Muslims the way the Armenians or Jews were.
