Baby Bust

The United States is now in its third straight decade of increased fertility rates. The opposite is true of Italy, Spain, Greece, and Germany. Why is Europe getting overrun by Muslims? The answer involves geography, but also math. Europeans don't reproduce. Muslims do. Seven out of the top ten fertility rates belong to nations where Islam is the leading religion. Nineteen of the bottom twenty fertility rates belong to European nations. As the Europeans vanish, the Muslims arrive to take their place. A civilization that refuses to propagate itself is not a good bet to strenuously object when a threatening civilization moves in on its territory.

UPDATE: Looking at the same numbers, Andrew Sullivan concludes: "Instead of bemoaning population decline, why not celebrate it?"

But Dan, isn't the population growth in America fueled by the influx of recent immigrants, both legal and illegal? Thus, the non-hispanic white population is also falling, whereas the hispanic birthrate is exponentially increasing.

So, as Pat Buchanan showed in his magnum opus, "The Death of West", it is truly happening. Perhaps he should have stuck with the original title, "Death of Whitey".

Of course it will be the death of whitey. While whites are continuing to have abortions, the Spanish are catholics who not believe in abortions or birth control. That is their plan...to breed us out of our country. Same thing with Europe and the muslims.

James, I was confused at first, the "Spanish"? I take it you mean Hispanics.

Michael, I think that population growth in the U.S. is not simply a function of immigration and high Hispanic birthrates. If you look at it in a state by state basis you can see that many largely white states have high birthrates while other largely white states do not. Think of the "red states" "blue states" issue. Steve Sailer has written extensively on these demographic issues. He thinks that the differences between states are caused by several factors, for example the cost of real estate in a state. Higher priced housing discourages couples from having children, or at least putting it off until later, thus limiting the "fertile" years. Check out his site for articles if you are interested. http://www.isteve.com/

As for Sullivan he has a typically sterile and materialist worldview, doesn't he?

Mickael and James: There is a difference between the West and the white. Uncontrolled hispanic immigration may create other problems, but I have no problem regarding their fertility once they are here legally. And why does James imply our country would die with superficial whiteness instead of with meaningful cultural issues? In the long run, I think more Hispanics could strengthen a great deal in our Western Christian culture in America. I would rather have more of them and fewer antiWestern antiChristian bobos.

"Nineteen of the bottom twenty fertility rates belong to European nations."

And it's worse than it seems! These numbers are inflated if you consider that the people in those countries having the most kids are the Muslim immigrants.

You know what this world needs?

More unprotected sex.

To quote Sam Francis' career ending line,

"The civilization we as whites created in Europe and America could not have developed apart from the genetic endowment of the creating people, nor is there any reason to believe that the civilization can be successfully transmitted to a different people."
