Al Qaeda killed 3,000 people on September 11, 2001. Guantanamo Bay holds hundreds of members of the group that carried out the 9/11 attacks. Jimmy Carter and the center bearing his name believe that President Bush should "Close down Guantanamo and the two dozen secret detention facilities run by the United States as soon as practicable." Other statesmen of Carter's stature agree, including this guy, this guy, this guy, and this guy. Good public relations doesn't always equate to good public policy.
Actually Number Three has no problem with the Torture policies at Gitmo. Which is wierd. But he doesnt.
I am making this all up at 12:41 AM
Dan, I and all wrestling fans around the world demand an immediate apology for putting the Iron Sheik in the same group as those terrorists. Hossein Khosrow Vaziri played a character on television and in arenas across the globe to the delight of millions. He is another example of a hard working immigrant who lived the American Dream. He does not deserve (even in satire) to be demonized and put in the same group as cowardly terrorists that kill innocent civilians.
The tag team of the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff were one of the best heel tag teams in the history of wrestling. When Volkolff would sing the Soviet National Anthem and the Sheik would then say, "Iran, number 1. Russia, number 1. USA, HAAAK-PITUEY", it was instant heat. Besides, Hulk Hogan would have never been so popular if he didn't have a strong heel that the crowds paid to see him pummel.
So yes, Jimmy Carter deserves to be ridiculed but leave the Sheik out of it.
The Iron Shief was a heel who spent most of his time getting owned by the True American Hulk Hogan.
Heels are as bad or maybe worse than Terrorists.
We can thank Nixon for Carter. Nixon's foolishness ruined Republicans' chances in 1976. Carter was a terrible candidate, but he ran against Nixon's hand-picked successor Ford. He couldn't lose. And then Ford claimed in debate that the Soviet Union did not have control over Poland!!! I've never known what he was thinking when he said that.
What do Jimmy Carter, Joe Biden and George Bush have in common? They all think that Gitmo should be closed for human rights violations.
I swear, I'm getting sick of GW. If he cowtows to these turkeys and media opinion, I may be slapping a 'Hillary for President' sticker on my car for 08'.
Hillary for President?
...Hill...
...Hillary?
ackh! What have you lost your mind!?!?!
Ben,
I think I’ve started to. And, this would be an overreaction I know. But, I am sick of seeing Bush trying to please everybody and particularly those who are his political enemies. Not to mention having it up to here (hand at eye level) with his stand on immigration and the new national order.
I know that everything an elected official of choice does will not always be popular with everybody, but Bush is pi$$ing me off. He has been holding all of the cards for some time now and is still trying to act like the non-partisan appeaser. Definitely ki$$ing the wrong butts with the likes of Fat Teddy K. and his brain dead horde.
Unfortunately, there are no Reagans left and if there were, with today’s sensitive voters, he wouldn’t be able to get elected.
Eight years of GW will be plenty for me and I’m worried about the next four and who the Republicrats have in store for us.
