Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox, the winners of the 2007 World Series. Full disclosure: I am a lifelong Red Sox fan who worked at Fenway for seven seasons. I am pretty happy right now. A few thoughts.... The Red Sox are the first team to win multiple World Series in the oughts.... With his home run the difference maker, Bobby Kielty is a hero to gingers everywhere.... I don't think this is a better Red Sox team than version 2004, but it certainly seems to have a brighter future. Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia, Jonathan Papelbon, Jon Lester, and Kevin Youkillis are all strong young players who should be with the club for years to come.... Colorado's late-season/playoff run was incredible, but ultimately they were outmatched by a superior club who never trailed in the entire series. Some thoughts of your own?
Amazing run from a team that is built for the future. Pretty happy right now, not a whole lot else to say. Glad we did it.
Congratulations to you Sox fans. As a Ranger fan, I can't even conceive of what a World Series victory would be like.
Btw. Say what you will about A-Rod. The man (or his agent) is a marketing genius. What better time to announce that he's opting out than right before the Sox win the World Series?
This Red Sox team was loose and professional throughout the regular season and all of the post season and played phenomenal baseball throughout. Give credit where credit is due to the best manager in baseball! Terry Francona made all the right moves and directed his team to a domination of another National League fraud.
As for that punk A-Rod and his punk agent: to make an announcement during the World Series that his clubhouse and post season disease is available and on the open market was a cheap ploy by two of professional sports’ most classless. That announcement would have been big news covered by everybody ANYTIME and don’t we already know that some moron will give A-Rod big money to pad his stats and disappear in the post season?!
Enough of that wasted space. The Sox are King! Congratulation Red Sox!!!!
Yea, it was a genius marketing move by Boras. But it was also a scumbag move. I hope and pray the Sox don't get A-Rod. You can get a handful of good players for his price tag, and hes an automatic hole in your lineup come postseason.
The Sox were the best team in baseball this year. The Rockies had a remarkable season but the better team won. 86 year series drought and now 2 in 4 years. Amazing!
Congrats Sox fans!
p.s. I am wondering: Would it be apprpriate to call the last 2 series wins the blessing of the bambino?
It's interesting. Call it confidence or what have you, but nobody that I know or have heard talk about it up here in Beantown was or is thinking or mentioning anything about the 86 years or any other related foolishness with regard to this win.
That crap died in 04' with the first win. This one was sweet as I don't think is was as much that anybody thought they'd lose but when they were going to win.
This team is similar to the 75 team in that it had a couple veteran stars surrounded by key young players. The young players on this team(, Papleborn, ellsbury, Bucholtz, Pedroia etc) are very similar to the 75 youn ones ( Lynn, Rice, Evans, Cooper, Burleson, Moret.) This team should be good well into the next decade.
I can't believe what I just saw! The best team in baseball for the whole season actually finished the job and won it all. Not a wild card team or a team that happened to peak at the right time. Just a super job by a team with (extremely patient) hitters and solid pitching, and a good mix of veteran and young players.
Go crazy Boston fans!! Party in the streets, and maybe even turn over John Kerry's SUV. j/k You deserve it.
Congrats!!

For 2007, I prefer "The Possible Dream."
Go Sox! Check this out, a guy who is going to run for president and loves the Sox! And I don't mean Curt Schilling! (http://presidentin2020.blogspot.com)
Just one correction: The Red Sox did trail 1-0 early in Game 2 before tying it and going on to win 2-1.
