Are You Ready for Some Football?

Are you ready for some football? The NFL kicks off tonight from Foxboro, Massachusetts, as the Patriots take on the Colts in a rematch from last season's AFC championship game. With the success of the '99 Rams, the '00 Ravens, and the '01 Patriots, surprise teams acheiving ultimate gridiron success have been the rule rather than the exception in recent years. Despite this, I'm going on record now with my Super Bowl picks--and I want you to go on record too. The New England Patriots will face the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl 39 (enough with the Roman numerals), with the Patriots repeating. Stand up and be counted! Share your Super Bowl predictions with FlynnFiles readers.

In Super Bowl 39 the NFC will be represented by the Seattle Seahawks while the AFC will send the New England Patriots to defend their title.

RD, you have to pick the winner too.

I think that once again the AFC will be represented by the Patriots, but once they sync and stay healthy the Eagles will be representing the NFC. In a Superbowl that may just be as fascinating as last years the Patriots win by 3.

Patriots 27 Seahawks 20

Although the rain may put a slight damper on the festivities, tonight's Super Bowl banner raising at Foxboro, and the extravaganza that will accompany it, should be the prelude to a great game which the Pats will win by 10 points.

As with last year's team, this new and improved version of the Patriots has been re-invented again by the best coach in football.

As I like to say "In Bill we trust".

The meat in the AFC are the N.E. Patriots. The NFC representatives will be the G.B. Packers.

SB 39: Patriots 29 - Packers 20

I am worried about Baltimore and the Chiefs but I am sticking with the Pats. In the NFC I am partial to the New York football Giants but I going with the Eagles. Look for the Pats to repeat.

this is the time we have all been waiting for! well, i still favor baseball but football is right up there. since i was going to choose the seahawks in the nfc but folks have beat me to it, i will change my selection to the carolina panthers in a rematch with the pats with vinatieri kicking another game ending fieldgoal with the final being 31-28. dan, before the baseball playoffs begin we should be picking pennant, division, and series champs no?

how about a knock out pool in football too? everyone can pick a team against the spread each week, however you can only pick the team once during the season so it gets tricky. i will keep track of everyone's selections if you want to make it easier for you? maybe the winner could win a flynnfiles t-shirt or something?

Anyone see the Sox game last night? Who does Fran"coma" think he is? He doesn't have to wear a game jersey, he sports long sleeve t-shirts instead. Mr. Toomey wouldn't put up w/ that s^it! Just want to get on the record, 3rd base coach Dale Sveum will cost the Sox in the post season!
O by the way. Go Pats!!!!!

Starting at around 6 p.m. tonight, I will post my picks against the spread on ESPN.com in a blog post. Readers will post their picks in the comments section. You have to pick a winner in every game, and the picks will be against the spread posted here. Because tonight's game starts a few hours after the post, try to get your picks in for this week in that 6 p.m.-9 p.m. timeframe. Since there is a short window, I will allow for latecomers this week and this week alone.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday.

Auc, whats up? glad to see your still alive after the hurricanes! Why are you so anti-sox now? A thirdbase coach will not cost a team like this anything. They have so much talent and sure Svuem has made a vast amount of mistakes but if the offense keeps mashing the ball around then a decision to send or hold a runner will be easy for anyone including svuem or wave'um in wendell kim. Keep the faith and stop worrying about a coaching staff, this is baseball and the game is played between the lines not from outside or in the dugout! Keep in touch Auc will ya

Bubba what up? I'm not anti-sox. I'm anti-Fran"coma"! They guy is a poor coach, true he has an unreal team around him. The game may be played between the lines, but the coaches in the dugout count! I think 98% of the Red Sox nation would agree. Think: Grady Little. Arggggggghhhhhhh! Out!

i hear ya auc i just believe its hard to question anything right now. thats red sox nation at its best. we are on a role, just run with it and let the game play out. over managing a team and critical media is what is wrong with the game now. everything is pure statistics these days, right or wrong is anyones guess but i believe in streaks and not being negative when things are going this good. do i like francona, not particually but he has his team playing together and has avoided a locker room blowout and that is hard to do with 20 something millionares in the same room. he must be doing something right or maybe just doing what the boys upstairs tell him to do which right now makes him look like a manager of the year canadate to me. the big picture here is the Sox record since they got the biggest problem out of town, his name:NOMAR!!! Bubba from the rock out!!
