Scrooges Want Your Lump of Coal

St. Thomas Aquinas offered five ways of proving God's existence. I came across one yesterday that not only proved existence but a sense of humor. As the usual suspects gathered for the Capitol Climate Change protest of coal, the Great Meteorologist in the Sky blessed the throngs with freezing temperatures and nearly a foot of snow. The prophets of old would have divined this as a sign. The global warming prophets are too stupid to take the hint.

Non-rhetorical questions for the global-warming hysterians: how many blizzards will it take before you concede that the skeptics might be on to something?

Could someone please COUNT the blizzards, come to think of it, ever since the last time you heard someone say something to the effect of, "Further evidence of global warming: last year was the hottest year on record"?

God does indeed have a sense of humor. Like I said in an earlier comment there was an environmentalist on the Today show spouting about global warming as 600,000 of us Kentuckians had lost power due to the ICE storm.

I think this same thing happened a few years ago. Some tree-humper report was released as people in Buffalo were digging out from 8 or 9 feet of snow.

This only proves the near mental illness that is environmentalism. You would think by now they would learn to release global warming reports in August. Fanaticism indeed.

Be well,

Sponge

Does anybody really believe that elitists Obama or Al Gore give a crap about “Global Warming” in particular or the environment in general? What they do believe is that they have an army of willing dupes who look at environmental causes as a religion.

The quest is for more dollars for government and Obama and his merry band of liberal scare mongers will continue to push this Global Warming foolishness to convince the obtuse citizens among us that our actions or inactions constitute a global crisis (Mr. Crisis Rahm Emanuel must be smiling). All at the expense of the economy.

Strikes me funny how in many quarters of the Global Fear business, "Global Warming" has evolved to "Climate Change". This to accommodate the fact that the climate people need to justify why, if we are affecting the environment negatively thus causing the planet to heat up, the weather is as inconsistently hot AND COLD as it ever has been.

Global warming is thought to make the climate more extreme in both directions. Instead of thinking how cold one week was this winter, or having it snow a couple of feet in the dead of winter, look at events that are enhanced by rapid changes like tornadoes and hurricanes. Look at this graph demonstrating a visible increase in tornadoes in the last few decades...

Are you serious? Do you think that, maybe, in the 4 billion years that the planet has existed that MAYBE there have been similar fluxes in tornadoes and hurricanes?

Or, do you REALLY think that humans invented this kind of activity?

Sadly, I think you do.

Hmm, I guess when mankind discovered fire, that is what ended the ice age.

Sponge, I love it!! Said it all in a sentence.

A thought occurs.

The advance of modern astronomy (and physical sciences as well) was due in good part to a shifting away from a Aristotelian mental paradigm (to be really imprecise here) where the earth and man was taken to be central in the universe to a more Platonic (again using the term loosely) helio-centric point of view.

As modern materialist science has "advanced" (I don't want to admit that it has much) and metaphysics and religion have been shunted aside we pride ourselves in having also gotten over a Platonic infatuation/worship of the sun.

But in so doing the global warming idiots seem to prove that all science has done is become far too dismissive of the centrality of the sun to life and climate on Earth and far too anthropocentric again! What the hell is wrong with scientists that they can't ever strike a rational chord between the "Aristotelian" and "Platonic" extremes?

My theory is that this is a result of modern science rejecting that great force of reconciliation between the opposite poles of Aristotle and Plato, namely, Christendom/Orthodox Christian theology and metaphysics/Catholicism. When scientists dismissed natural philosophy and metaphysics they began to hasten the demise of human reason. Now we are left with asshats who believe in global man-made climate change.
