Behold, the Sun Is Mighty

For solar skeptics doubting the sun's power to affect the weather here on earth--choosing to believe, instead, that Big Macs and Aquanet are responsible for mercury spikes--consider that the sun is 93 million miles away and can still burn you to death. The sun is so bright it can blind you. And then there is its mighty sonic fury. That's right, atop its other superpowers, the sun is extremely loud. Even if Yngwie Malmsteen forced you to use his Marshall Stacks as headphones, it wouldn't be as loud as the sun. Even if, on an expedition to seek an audience with the Emperor of the Solarians, you were equipped with potent suntan lotion shielding you completely from the orb's rays, the sonic blast would still kill you. Even if you unleashed the entire nuclear arsenal on planet earth, its racket wouldn't be as decibel shattering as the sun's (and you'd have no planet on which to live). It's the sun's solar system. We just live in it.

Dan, no one doubts the sun. What is in doubt is your general assertion that climatologists dang blang forgot to take into account the sun. It's ridiculous.

I don't think that anyone is saying that Gore-ite scientist don't factor in the sun. Rather, as I alluded in a comment in the previous post, we are saying -- and lots of climate scientists are saying -- that it is clear the Gore-ites are weighting too heavily the human impact on Earth's climate and are likely underscoring variations in the sun and its impact.

Also, I find it most noteworthy that many of the loudest political cheerleaders for global warming alarmism (those on the political Left) are beginning to change their tune on the subject. See "Murdock: Even left now laughing at global warming"

And this list in the comments to that article is powerful. I can't vouch for the veracity of all these claims, though the vast majority of them I have certainly read in news accounts elsewhere in recent months:

1) For the past 10+ years, Average annual temperatures have not surpassed 1998 (NOAA) (University of Alabama)

2) Average annual temperatures are now trending downward since 1998 (NOAA) (University of Alabama)

3) Ocean temperatures have not risen since 2000 when the 3000 Argo buoys were launched. The buoys even show a slight decrease in ocean temperatures!

4) Sea Ice Coverage is at or near normal conditions.

sea.ice.anomaly.timeseries.jpg

5) The Antarctic is not "melting", it is growing in most places, the sloughing off at the edges is normal as the ice mass grows.

6) All polar bear pods are stable or growing (NOAA/PBS)

7) Mount Kilimanjaro is not melting because of global warming, rather "sublimation".

8) The majority of the Antarctic is 8 degrees below "normal" (again, whatever that is).

9) The coveted 0.7 degree rise in temperatures over the last 100 years has been wiped out with last years below "normal" temperatures (NOAA coolest winter since 2001).

10) Al Gores film was just deemed "propaganda" in a court of law in the UK as many points could not be substantiated by scientists.

11) It was also just reveled that some of the footage in Al's film was CGI. The ice shelf collapse was from the movie "The Day After Tomorrow" (ABC).

12) One of the scientists that originally thought that CO2 preceded the warming has now found with new data that the CO2 rise follows the warming (Dr David Evans).

13) August 2008 was the first time since 1913 there were no sun spots. Fewer sunspots = less heat output.

14) The Medieval Warm Period was actually warmer than the 20th century (no SUVs). The Human Species didn't die and instead it was a period of great human advancement.

15) Many scientists are now predicting 30 years of cooling.

16) 31,000 university degreed scientists have signed a petition against AGW! (OISM.org)

Several publications, including those that are "warmist" have recently written that the "natural" cycles of the earth may "mask" AGW.
Give me a break.

Over the last ten years the world, along with China (1 new coal fired plant coming on line each week) and India spewing millions of additional tons of CO2 in to the atmosphere these results should be impossible.

To clarify, everything after "Posted by..." is from "Concerned_Citizen" including his concluding remarks.

Eric, you're a buzz kill. It was party time, man.

Think of the carbon footprint and the expense it took to make this monstrosity to study GW and the thing crashes.

Could it be a metaphor for the funny science of GW?? Could be rabbit.
