I didn't think a nuclear bomb, or even prolonged exposure to Father Time and Mother Nature, could kill the Twinkie. We now know that a union can. Hostess, manufacturer of baked delights, announced that it is going out of business today. The company cited an industrial strike as the cause. Upon moving into a townhouse in the mid-1990s, the live-in landlord's girlfriend petitioned me to pick her up some Ho Hos and strawberry milk at the 7-11. I almost threw up just hearing her request. Though Ho Hos, Ding Dongs, and Twinkies haven't been my thing since I was seven, I could go for a Coffee Cake right now. In the future, people will ask why they called it "Wonder Bread." It's because sandwich enthusiasts won't be able to taste it--only wonder about its long departed deliciousness.
Absolutely no sympathy for the union members losing their jobs, they got what they deserved. I only feel sorry for those non-union employees who are now out of work because of them.
With any luck the licenses for the brand will be bought up by another company and all their baking facilities will be in right to work states. If not that then have them made overseas someplace, anything to keep from giving a union member a job.
And wait until those many unions who supported the Marxist in Chief have to compete with the cheap labor offered by all of the new formally illegal voters...., eh, citizens natrualized as part of Obama's pre-election amnesty scheme.
