The allegations that the man behind Elmo bedded an underage teen disappoint, particularly after being enthralled by Kevin Clash's story in "Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey." I guess it would be worse if Elmo, rather than Clash, had been accused of the deed (and worse still if it had been Snuffleupagus). My hunch is that this is a conspiracy by Grover and Harry Monster to get more airtime. I don't blame them. Blue monsters have discovered just how racist a place Sesame Street truly is. When it comes to humans, Sesame Street carts out Gordon and Luis and Mr. Hooper to show just how diverse the "friendly neighborhood" is. But for puppets, it's red supremacy. Hey, Children's Television Workshop: Blue is beautiful.

The sad thing about this is it's tragic if it's true, but if it turns out to be totally false,just the accusation will ruin his career and life anyway.

Seems fitting for a guy who made his living with his hand up a puppet's azz and speaking with an affeminate affectation.

Fits right in at PBS though.

The accuser has recanted. The tickling was consensual.
