YouTube is a time machine that ushers us anywhere in the video age. My preferred destination today is the late 1970s/early 1980s, where rock reemerged from the disco era with its stars having their hair sheared off like Samson and wearing Nike sneakers as if they were the prescribed uniform. Enjoy the music.
Billy Squier, She's a Runner
The Knack, Good Girls Don't
J. Geils Band, Love Stinks
Men at Work, Overkill
Rockpile, Teacher, Teacher
I loved the Knack back in the day. my Sharona has got one of the greatest solos ever. i my mind anyway.
What about the transition from John Cougar to John Cougar Mellencamp. You must have owned the "Uh Huh" album in 1983. Were you screaming Play Guitar?
Sorry, Nickypots. I have never owned "Uh Huh" or any other John Cougar/John Cougar Mellencamp album (though I have owned several Joey Belle/Albert Belle baseball cards). I did illegally download "Ain't Even Done With The Night" several years back.
I am not a music aficiando and never had the interest to amass a music collection.
It seems this era of popular music was somewhat of a goldenage in terms of the quality of songs that made the billboard top 40.
That “Overkill” clip just led me on a Men At Work nostalgia review. Good stuff.
