You Might Be an Alcoholic...

If Keith Richards tells you that you drink too much. Good luck to Rolling Stones' guitarist Ron Wood on his timeout from toxins in rehabilitation. Better luck with your teenage Russian girlfriend. Beware, Ron: she's not dating you for your movie-star good looks. Ronnie Wood, heed the advice of Ronnie Wood, whose sagacious counsel regarding "women's ways" in his most famous song would make a good point of reflection in evaluating the May-December romance.

The rock and roll lifestyle is truly an amazing thing. Money, drugs, booze, sex, pampered beyond reason. I'll admit I'm jealous. And it just goes to show how well taken care of these guys are where they get the best medical care and along with not having to suffer the pressures of a real job and real life they certainly have more of a life expectancy.

I would think the life expectancy for a rock star is less than average due to the lifestyle itself. The ironic part is many of these guys are not taken care of very well by the people in the business or in their personal lifes. There is a certain amount of pampering in these people's lives but it does little to relieve the stress or pressure they go through, either by their or others doing. I have little respect for most celebrities but I doubt many of us would do too well in their place.

If Keith Richards tells you you have a drinking problem you're in big trouble. Two things I would never want to see Keith Richards do: Facilitate a drug or alcohol rehab and give guitar lessons. Yikes!

Richards is a good example as, given his hard fast lifestyle, he should have been dead years ago. But, he's a valuable commodity whose survival has less to do with how he's looked after himself than how others have watched and cared for him.

Adding to that, having plenty of money, little stress and lots of things to ease the pain if it becomes an issue works to one surviving.

Or, he could just have some cockroach in his DNA.

BTW Dan, heard you on Savage last evening. Liked the way he lets people talk and it was a good interview.
