A Tuesday Top Five List

So gay men haven't made much of a positive contribution to the U.S. Congress? Cheer up! They've made up for it in their contributions to popular music. Here's my top five list, with links to vintage YouTube clips, of rock songs by dudes who are into dudes:

5. Tiny Dancer, Elton John
It's hard to believe that Elton John once was cool. But he was--thirty years ago.

4. Fall on Me, REM
Michael Stipe came out five years ago. Earth to Michael: We knew.

3. Every Day Is Like Sunday, Morrissey
Morrissey claims that he is asexual. This clip claims otherwise.

2. Heroin, The Velvet Underground
Lou Reed is a seedy, creepy dude, who will try anything twice.

1. Under Pressure, Queen/David Bowie
If gayness were a church, Freddie Mercury would be its patron saint.

What about Little Richard and also 2Pac?

I was tempted to include Elvis or Johnny Cash in the middle of this list, a la the lists that try to claim George Washington and Abraham Lincoln as homosexuals. I would have treasured the reactions. Alas, I couldn't, even for the sake of a good laugh, get myself to do it. Is that your point in naming 2Pac?

I was joking around.

Sometimes, having a big brain has its consequences. Not that I would know.....

Wow, that Morrissey guy is a swish and a half. Asexual? I'll bet!

I would have picked a Smiths song for Morrissey rather than him on his own. My personal favorite is "Bigmouth Strikes Again."

At least you made sure to avoid including RuPaul or Boy George in your top five.

No Judas Priest? Howie Long must be happy.

Kurt Cobain said in his song "All Apologies" that EVERYONE IS GAY; Then he killed himself. Just a thought.
Why is it an issue? There are gay people!; and there are far more straight people. Get over it! What goes on in the bedroom should stay in the bedroom anyway.
Hey, I like Elton John's music, but his choice of
bedmate is none of my concern. I will be honest and say that his music appealed less to me once it became common knowledge that he was a
homosexual.Myself, being a heterosexual man,I don't care what people think of me one way or the other. My personal sex life with my wife is nobody's business.
