Hardball

Like tigers, Democrats eat their young. That's the message one gleans from Congressman Eric Massa's tale of the White House pressuring him to resign. Is the White House capable of this? Sure. If they can trade a federal judgeship for a "yea" vote then certainly they're capable of another sort of bribery with Eric Massa, who now claims his "no" vote, rather than any questionable private conduct, is behind the controversy in which he finds himself embroiled. Did the White House manufacture this scandal? That's another question. Certainly Mr. Massa's version of events transforms him from pervvy perpetrator to victim. It's convenient for him. But, then again, his resignation is convenient for the White House. This is hardball politics, and if Obama wins the health care vote certainly his goon squad will celebrate that the ends justified the means. But if they lose it their scorched earth policy will have made many enemies, particularly within the Democratic Party.

It's hard to believe that this White House does not already have as many enemies in their own party as in the opposition party. And those political enemies are growing by the day. This is a good thing because they have to be stopped.

Massa has some seriously shady baggage and it's appropriate that he be asked to leave. But when has one having baggage, or being corrupt, or stealing, or not paying taxes ever been a problem for the Democrats? There is a list almost too long to mention of the party faithful who should have been shunned or resigned but didn't and who were covered by colleaques and the press.

With the Chicago style tactics and the corruption at the top and the corruption that permeates throughout the Democrat party, it seems evident that Massa is being booted for his 'no' vote on healthcare and nothing else.

With regard to jamming through government rationed healthcare, I wrote:

"Bribery, smoke, mirrors, obfuscation, lies - it's all there."

Forgot blackmail.

Even if they get through they likely will have made many enemies. This does not bode well for Mr. Obama over the long haul. He is going to need these Democrats for other things down the road.

Perhaps in his ideological fantasies he has convinced himself that Republicans are the primary group thwarting him and his policies or the media is being unfair to him or something to this effect. The reality is his primary problem is with Democrats. Also, the fawning favorable coverage of this man and his policies is unprecedented. The Republicans do not have enough members of Congress to be able to impact things in the slightest. If Mr. Obama gets this through I think the term "pyrrhic victory? may apply here.
