Had the Bush administration not planned for assassinating al Qaeda targets, I would understand the Congressional Democrats calls for investigations into Dick Cheney and other nefarious cartoon boogeymen. The calls for investigations of the Bush administration for discussing the idea of assassinating al Qaeda targets are far more puzzling. Did the Eisenhower administration investigate Harry Truman for not informing everybody in Congress about the plan to nuke Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Who in Congress gave Lincoln the okay to fire General McClellan? How about the Minutemen? Did they wait to see the whites of the enemies' eyes before shooting or for an invitation from Nancy Pelosi? It is the nature of presidents to seek to defend America from all enemies foreign and domestic and it is the nature of intelligence agencies to keep secrets. That Congressional Democrats object to this--a secret plan to kill al Qaeda members at war with the U.S.--itself merits an investigation. Coming so soon after so many Democrats on Capitol Hill--Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, John Edwards, John Murtha, Rod Blagojevich, Pat Kennedy--abdicated their duties and voted to "authorize" the president to go to war in Iraq makes the current phony outrage over being denied input into a plan that never got off the ground laughable.
This guy is looking more and more like Carter and/or Clinton everyday. The Clintonian part is his penchant for not only blaming his predecessors but to create a public spectacle when he get's in trouble. And I'm happy to say: he's in trouble.
There may be hope to save Amercia yet!
"Did the Eisenhower administration investigate Harry Truman for not informing everybody in Congress about the plan to nuke Hiroshima and Nagasaki?"
He should have.
You mean to tell me we are NOT assassinating these scumbags? WTF
According to Bill Clinton, he tried to kill bin Laden while he was president. Now, we'll probably have an investigation into the CIA misleading Bill, "I said only to make him chill". And they'll get lost in who said what when, and declare it a perplexing stand still, while setting the trial dates to hang some Republicans for having a different idea.
People have to remember that this is the text of the Pelosi scuffle.
Dems: "Hey let's hang some Republicans for war crimes."
Pubs: "But Nancy Pelosi was there and approved."
Dems: "Did she, did she really? Who can say who was where and what someone approved of--you're really a hard case wanting to pin this on her, have you no decency--at long last, have you no decency?!
"Everything is in a constant state of flux--it depends on what you mean by the meaning of is--Friedrich Nietzsche said there are only interpretations--if you had any appreciation for nuance--like John Kerry, you might know all this."
Pubs: "You mean the guy who got his start by alleging nightmarish scenes of decapitations, dismemberment and torture--that appreciation for nuance?"
Dems: "But all that beside the point, we'd like to invite your to a tribute to the Nuremberg trial--Friday a good day for you?"
You know, speaking of Kerry, I'm still waiting for the guys on his boat to come forward and admit that they were they guys slicing and dicing the Viet Cong, just to buttress Kerry's claim that he witnessed this stuff in the few short months of active deployment.
