President George W. Bush refuses to criticize President Barack Obama, saying his successor "deserves my silence." That Bush's stance is unreciprocated bespeaks the lack of class within the current crowd occupying his old haunts. Obama, the successful campaigner, is finding it difficult to govern, which is why he reverts to campaign mode and frequently invokes, directly or indirectly, Bush. Character, the issue that dogged Bush's predecessor, is such a non issue a decade after it was the issue that the graceless mudslinging against the former president barely muddies the mudslingers.
I completely agree Dan, but you've written of Bush in a positive light. You must be confronted. Cue the deranged.
At least Cheney has some gonads.
This ought to rev up the economy....

Cheney showed himself to have the same poor class as Obama - and was wrong to boot, at least in his avoiding blame for what his administration is very much responsibile (along with Barney Frank, the Fed, etc).
Meanwhile, Bush here showed appropriate deference given his current station. I agree that Dan's comments are spot on.
Cheney is now speaking as a private citizen and making accurate observations based on current events. I think that might be ok. Unlike the Community Organizer in Chief who is making bad policy and citing the actions of the previous administration to hide his and his Party’s complicity and incompetence in their assault (or is that to Change?) on America.
And maybe Bush just doesn't give a crap anymore. Or maybe he never did.
Either way, I’d take the aloof Texan and his staff any day over the clueless spendthrift troublemaker who’s allegedly running things currently.

I'm not sure a clueless spendthrift "conservative" is better for the country, long term, than a clueless spendthrift Leftist. Afterall, the first gave us the last. Hopefully the reaction to the last will be in the direction of freedom next time, instead of more of the same.
I will concur with that. Providing that we have any chance to get to that point at all after the debacle that most certainly will be the Obama years and considering that the latter has already outspent the former.
Well, he has certainly *pledged* to outspend the former. the passage of his budget will quickly make that a reality. But remember that Bush gave us our first $2 tillion AND $3 trillion budgets, screwed us with the largest expansion of the entitlement state since LBJ with the prescription drug program, and launched all this stimulus and bailout nonsense with the 2008 economic stimulus package ($152 billion), bank bailout (the $700 billion TARP) and back-door bailout of Detroit after his first attempt failed in the Senate.
I copy, EFL.
This is more of Bush's "Above the Fray" attitude that would not allow him to confront any of the negative screeds about him. It's somewhat honorable that Bush kept telling himself that history would be his judge.
It doesn't make up for being incontinent on spending, though.
You know, it could be said that Bush did not whine then and is not whining now.
Isn't that what Sea King did say?
I didn't see that. But, if that's the way you'd like to interpret it, be my guest.
"Bush's "Above the Fray" attitude that would not allow him to confront any of the negative screeds about him."
Interpreted: he didn't whine. Next sentence says he still isn't whining.
I for one am glad he didn't whine. But much more important for me was his lack of right principles, his lack of confidence in the free market, his overconfidence in the State in a whole slew of areas, as evidence by the explosion of the size, power, and scope of the federal government in every conceivable area.
Still, I miss "W."
Think for one moment why he said this. It is plainly and simply as not to piss off Obama. Bush is afraid he will be investigated with the Truth Commission, and if he pisses of Barry, maybe he will pursue it. If he remains docile, he will appease the great one...
